talked to a couple of dealerships on long island here. found out that they are charging an additional $10k per unit AND they are only producing 900 units for the year!! can anybody clarify this for me if the same in other states?? not sure if this is supposed to be posted here

 

I can assure you GM will build all they can sell. Then, they'll be rebating them at the end of the year. If you pay that 10000 availability rip off then you need help.

Now that I don't believe, that's just the salesman's way of trying to justify the $10k grab that he's trying to get from you.

I can't entirely blame them though, supply and demand, gotta strike while the iron is hot.

 

They will limit the number produced the 1st year, but after that they will increase them depending on how well they sold....Look at the Z06, 1st year in the C5 & C6 they did a limited run...now we can barely give the C6 Z06 away lol (they over produced them)

 

I can see that, but only 900 of them?
I'm guessing that they will produce more than that, maybe not 10,000+ of them of course but certainly more than just 900.
But maybe not.

I thought I had read GM was working on a system/program to prevent dealers from doing that.

Scratch that, just read this about the Volt when it came out

If I'm not mistaken, there has more than 900 pre-orders for ZL1's.

 

I remember seeing markups like that on both the 30th and CE Trans Ams as well as '04 GTO's.

 

They have been putting way to much into commercials just to build 900 of these cars. At least you can thank a ford and a dodge for something, making chevy build more of what we want in a car or truck. (well almost)

 

Not every dealer charges markup. Remember the 2010 SS's? I got mine below sticker in June of 09 when they were very hard to get. You just need to find better dealers.

 

he owns a shop so im sure its a write off and itll bring him in business. hes in GMHTP alot so look for it.

he just told me he cancelled his order.

he already has a 5th gen. i guess he doesnt want another one.

 

Production started this week, people should start getting and seeing them soon.

 

They're expecting to see them in the first few weeks of february
