Just for historical accuracy it was the first car to break 200 mph in the NASCAR Grand National (later Winston Cup) series. It never came close in street trim.

Theres more to the equation of traction than just tires....You can have all the tire you want but if your suspension isn't ready to do work, you'll spin anyway. My friends 650HP 03 Cobra hooks and runs 10's on 255 slicks and stock IRS. My Formula on the other hand spins with 275s and half the horsepower because I lack a good suspension setup.

*Exactly* my point. If people don't hardly ever go over 150mph, what's the real world value of going 200mph with the cost of slower acceleration just to barely achieve that top speed? It's just a claim to impress carshow bullshitters IMO.

I agree with you completely lol. Here's a post from me in another thread from a few days ago:

Thanks, I literally laughed out loud at that.

You couldn't be more wrong.

I'm just more of a do'er than a talker myself when it comes to driving.

Action > Talk & action > Talk alone. And there's a massive gap in between them. If the action by itself is good enough, you don't even need to do your any talking, others will do most of it for you.

Trying to impress people at car shows or at the gas pump with statistics isn't my thing. I'd rather go out and do it than talk about it personally.

Any way you slice it, these are great days to be a gear head. I remember when going 150MPH top end was impressive.

This car is awesome. Haters gonna hate, etc. I would LOVE to own this car, although I'd admit I wouldn't need all of that power, ever.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat performance - YouTube
I'm simply surprised the Dodge isn't mush faster... 126 doesn't look like 700hp mph... not even close. Then again, it does weigh about 4450 w/o the driver. Whatever though... 11.2 @ 125 on factory rubber is outstanding! You'd think it would run better than 4. quicker with drag radials... standby.

They ran at Las Vegas. Bring that car back east in the fall and it will flirt with 130.

I'd believe it with a higher trap, but that'd take like a 1.6/1.7 60' time....on 275 P Zero's in a 4500lb+ car (with driver) and a 57/43 weight split. Also, it went 10.9, not 10.8. 10.86 does not round down to 10.8 (the math geek in me couldn't let that go).

These cars are amazing. I see them testing everyday, it's probably the best factory sounding muscle car I have ever heard.

It went 10.86. 10.86 is 10.86. The realist in me couldn't let it go.

No... they certified 11.2... that's a real, "We did this and you didn't!" ET.

That would be as big a surprise as the hp... I'd expect this car to start at 5k more, just to keep it in the range of the other two. I don't see any good reason for it to be at their pricing because it's solidly more car. More power, more weight, more goodies, more comfortable... more, by a long way.

Of course, considering the large gas guzzler tax and who knows what about delivery and accessories or even options. I'd think this will be a $75,000 car and at least 65k.

If it's anything like the Viper, the Leather upgrade package is 4-5k alone. 8 speed auto is probably another 2-3k so a fully loaded car could still hit 70+ and even more with the inevitable scumbag dealer ADM.
