Yup, the end of the Hemi once again, This time might be permanent. I'm glad I bought my 2020 R/T when I did, especially before the chip shortage. I was able to get a dealer discount and FCA rebate before both incentives were taken away.

I am sure we all heard earlier this week that 2023 is the last year for any type of V8 engine from Dodge. There will be numerous special editions available to end the run with fanfare.
An electric performance car will be offered for 2024.

the plaid is way way faster, easier to get in and out, more comfortable, turns and brakes just fine for the way i drive, no worry of valve guides, rocker trunions, stalling at red lights (rps bc2 clutch), blowing the tires off at speed, etc.
that said, i have a few other gas cars in the stable, and generally always have at least one 3-pedal car for those days i just gotta row some gears.

Meanwhile, in my personal rebellion against the electric revolution, I've moved backward in technology by adding another old, carb'ed V8 car to my collection. It will be a fair weather, 3-season daily driver. Not a "fast" car by any means, but much more my style and still plenty of fun to me.
Would be great to pick up a new Challenger before they turn into boring microwave ovens, but I just can't keep growing the collection. At least not right now.

According to Autoweek, Dodge is replacing the Hemi in a new Charger and Challenger with the Hurricane 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six-cylinder - the standard output Hurricane makes 420 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque and the high-output is rated at 510 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. The Dodge and Chrysler brands are scheduled to go all-EV by about 2028.
The standard 6cyl will also remain.

These OEMs will give EV the old college try, but it's pretty telling that GM is still concerned with developing new ICE powertrains. I think they realize it would be a mistake to put all their eggs in the EV basket in such an absurdly short time frame. It's likely that regulations/goals will probably change once reality sets in (especially if we see some corrective elections).

All EV is a big move and i dont think its likely to happen in this decade, regardless of what anyone wants or dictates. 'all' anything is rarely the correct solution anyway.

aside from the cost of the car itself, mine has been very cheap for the year-ish ive had it. literally zero maintenance. im at about 11k miles and ive only had to charge it. electricity is cheap in florida, plus i have solar.
ran out to the garage to check, and for the last 11,376 miles the car has used 3,789 kwh. FPL rate i think is 10 or 11cents per kwh so thats about $380 ?
ive been much happier than i expected to be with the EV experience, but likely will sell near the end of this year. probably wont ever buy another EV but id like to put a tesla drive train in a blazer for an EV typhoon some day.

I've looked at an EV swap in my camaro but it was obnoxiously overpriced for the power you're getting.

no idea but i sure wasnt happy to see the price of all new teslas get slashed recently. prior to that, i was figuring my car was worth 110-115 since its a little higher miles than most i see. part of the value of teslas in general is their high resale and that had to have put a big dent in it.
its been a fun, but expensive, ride.
