Bugatti Veyron tid-bit

this is from the latest sports car illustrated and quoted from Wolfgang Schreiber, bugatti technical director.
"In raw terms, the engine produces more than 3,000 horsepower, but frictional and heat losses—its cooling demand are enormous—mean that nearly 2,000 horsepower is lost before reaching the clutch. In the end, the quad-turbo W16 develops 1,001 DIN horsepower (987 SAE horsepower)—more than a Formula One V10."
torque by the way is 921 lb-ft.
the engine is 882 pounds.
7-speed twin-clutch gearbox
all-wheel drive
0-62mph in 2.5 sec.
0-124mph in 7.3 sec.
electronically governed at 233mph. if you want to reach the top speed of 252mph you must use a second key to turn a switch which in-turn makes the car go into top speed mode.
it also has a gauge on the dash that shows you how much horsepower is being made……nice!
not bad for US$1.4 million

My uncle works for the Orlando Magic as the head scouting agent for Europe. He talks with a bunch of players, he told me that Grant Hill just bought one of those things. paid about 1.4 for it. Crazy, just crazy!!!!

what's funny is Bugatti doesn't make any money off of those sales. The Veyron is just a marketing ploy more than anything, so when Bugatti starts making more "affordable" models, their name will already be out there.

This car is crazily badass, it's not really my style though. My Camaro suits me perfectly, I would feel akward in a Veyron, although they are beautiful and so incredibly fast. I would spend the first couple months just playing with buttons and collecting speeding tickets. If I won the lottery I would buy one of these, but unless that happens, I'll stick to my f-bodys, weather there popular or not. I would be the only guy driving a 93 Z28 over a flying car if the world turns to that someday.

All motors make 3 times the actual power. 1/3 of the power is lost as heat to the coolant, another 1/3 is lost as heat out the exhaust and the last 1/3 is your rest of your power. Just a little tidbit

Wow you need a second key to activate Top-Speed mode. Sounds liek some **** out a jet or something lol. I would definetly buy one, if i had 1.4 million sitting around.

The difference is, the Veyron is a 1000hp production car with a warranty, not some aftermarket hackjob putting 1200lb-ft through a transmission rated for half that. Not to mention the cooling system, brakes and aerodynamics.

o no non o its not as simple as turning a key, iam talling u is james bond stuff, u turn a key and the comp gives u a safety check list to go over
Ex: tire pressure check, racing seatbelt on check, and so on u get the point.
Well after thats done the car literaly transforms in front of your eyes the wing changes the roof comes down the car lowers, dude is totally pimping like james bond pimping kinda ****. O and it has 3 keyes there is regular mode key, then handling mode key, and last and deff best rocket speed key.

Yes, because it's clearly the better car. Would you rather have a 06 Z06 or a Chrysler Crossfire with a turbo kit and 500hp? The Venom is certainly impressive on its own, but the Veyron is in a different league.
A cooling system designed for 500hp will not cool a 1000hp turbo engine if you actually use the power (especially not when the airflow is obstructed by a big intercooler), a 600lb-ft transmission will not hold 1100lb-ft for very long and a body that generates aerodynamic lift will not be very safe over 200mph. The same goes for tires that are designed for like 186mph max. and the puny brakes. And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Hennesseys 255mph claim turns out to be BS.
One car was designed by a corporation with own wind-tunnels and an own high-speed test track on a $3,000 mil budget. The other was designed on an estimated $1 mil budget by a company with a questionable track record, no testing facilities and an AOL email address. Not hard to guess which one is engineered properly.

Simple!they're both better lookin than that thing!when i bought my SS i didn't know how fast or quick it was i liked the looks & i rather drive a fast good lookin car than a fast ugly one! & for that price i'd rather hav a driveway full of the cars i really like!
But the fact i was sayin before is that people can build quicker not necasserily faster cars for less & who says that bugatti aint gonna break down?and sayin that why instead of moddin our cars don't we save up & buy somethin quicker & faster?
