Challenger a GO!!
Well, it's official. Right from the Dodge web site. The Challenger is officially a go as a 2008 model for release in calendar year 2008. The gauntlet has been thrown. Will GM respond!!!!!
even if they are late, the challenger will still be slower than 4th gen f bodies. That thing is gonna weigh like 4000lbs, its gonna need 425 hp to get out of its own way.
I'll wait for the camaro, b/c it will be worth it.

The Challenger is a good thing. Besides giving another choice in performance cars , it will force GM to play their hand. You know and I know they're gonna build the Camaro. This car and the Mustang is good push for it.
I'll be getting the Challenger at some point for sure. I bet that the production car will weigh less than the concept. In the 70's, mopars always weighed a couple of tons but were so strong that they still posted damn good 1/4 mile times. Mods for the Hemi will be interesting as well. Can't wait!
The concept Challenger was built on the existing 300 platform. The production Challenger is supposedly going to be built on a redesigned 300 platform. The production car is supposed to have less girth, weight and height. Back in the day however, the Challenger was the largest of the "pony cars". It will probably be the same with the new generation.

I really like the tail lights on the challenger. But won't be buying anything new for a while. I'll wait a few years after gm makes the camaro/gto/firebird and take things from there and see what kind of deal I can find on a lightly used model.

The big question is, 'How is it gonna price out?' Are you going to have to buy the full leather and big stereo to be able to get the big motor?
Ultimately, if we can go back to the 'muscle car era' and order a stripped down car w/ options as we choose, it's gonna be ON !! The biggest problem w/ all the auto makers is that a buyer has been pushed into buying the full monte package and then discarding everything not wanted/needed when they want the big power plant and big brakes, etc,
CAr buyers are certainly being offered some nice choices and the performance car person is again being heard in Detroit....now, if GM could fix their house, and jump back in with tasty offerings rather than ho-hum recycled crap (Hey...GM...the import craze is OVER ) good times lye ahead.
Me<---- Jumping off the soap box.

The Challenger will be fast. I'm still hoping DCX doesn't inflate the price to unbuyable levels. As for me, I fully intend to buy a V8-powered Camaro once it comes out. I'm so tired of my Mustang and SRT buddies telling me how slow my truck is....

BOSS APPROVED!
