Default Ford Continues Its *** Backwa... Way Forward Plan: 2008 Focus & Five Hundred And $#!+

2008 Ford Focus: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/07/d...08-ford-focus/

2008 Ford Five Hundred: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/07/d...-five-hundred/

Ugh, I don't even feel like typing right now. Reminds me of something similar that happened at GM a few years ago when someone at Chevy thought it was a bright idea to slap that truck bar across the front end of everything in their damn lineup. I'm waiting for Ford to run out of ideas and slap the Fusion grille onto the front end of the Mustang already... or better yet, the *** end of their vehicles as well. In fact why don't they just sell a car that IS a Fusion grille. No seriously, a big *** Fusion grille with 4 wheels and a guarantee that this was the best they could come up with.

Anyway... have a look for yourselves. The Focus looks like ***, especially in coupe form. Why Ford just won't give us the Euro market C1 car is beyond me. This piece of crap is based on the underpinnings of the original Mark 1 car (albeit "revised") that was introduced in 1998. The Europeans on the other hand have had the Mark 2 C1 based Focus since the 2005 model year. C1 also underpins the Mazda 3, Mazda 5, Volvo S40/V50, Volvo C70 and the Volvo C30, ALL OF WHICH are sold or to be sold (C30) in the states. Meanwhile Europe also gets the hot 220hp Focus ST that gets the turbo 5 pot from the S40/V50. Yah you can bet we WONT be getting that motor here in the US. As for the interior... because well know how important LED lit cupholders are.

As for the Five Hundred, Ford should just reveal the full name of the car already. The badges should read "Five Hundred reasons you wont want to put this piece of **** into your garage." The 3.5L V6 despite making a healthy 260hp wont be able to save this sTinking and sinking ship on its own. I almost feel like Mercedes-Benz should slap Ford for having the nerve to continue calling one of its trim lines "SEL."

In the end it amazes me that the same Ford which brought us the Mustang, Lightning, Aussie market Falcon, Euro market Turbo Focus RS and ST, Euro market Escort Cosworth and the Euro market Mondeo could build such **** as this. I hope Ford enjoys their ******* 3 bar grille because the company is going to be sporting one on their coffin pretty damn soon.

What'd be a bold move is if Ford brought some of this stuff stateside.

Euro Market Ford Focus ST:

Euro Market 2007 Ford Mondeo:

Ford of Australia's FPV Range: http://www.fpv.com.au/cars/overview.aspx

Take your pick of a full size 4 door sedan, or a 2 door ute. FPV offers a 390hp 5.4L V8 for old school traditionalists that can be mated to a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic or a 4.0L turbo inline 6 aimed at a younger crowd that while rated at 362hp makes more torque than the V8 with a peak output of 406 ft-lbs also mated to 6 speed stick or slushbox. In fact the inline 6 cars are faster as they have a slightly lower curb weight in conjunction with their higher torque output. Can you say bad ***?

The cars that will never make it over here do look much better. Although I dont think the focus and 500 look that bad. They could use more power though. I wonder why car manufactures in general dont bring a lot of stuff over to the states that would probably sell really well? There has got to be underlying issues somewhere or a reason why.

The US gets screwed when it comes to engines. Styling is an opinion which will always differ. However, in Australia Ford makes some damn stout motors. It pisses me off that we can't get them here. Their HP output is way higher then the US version and what impresses me is that they are N/A... well some are. -Mark

The 500, man its boring. You know its pretty bad when you design a car along with Volvo and they build the more enticing version.
The old Taurus looks more daring than that car!

Ford keeps re-inventing the Taurus. Every damned 4 door in their line up is just
another Taurus...a 4 door box.
