Even thought its a limited edition I think its an awesome idea. It's gonna have 540hp which isnt to shabby either

Ford needs to focus on getting out of the tremendous hole they are in and forget about making "limited production" mustangs. Just my 2 cents...

Everybody talks about how over priced the GT500 is after dealer markup and forget that the dealers do the same thing with a Z06. Yea it does too weigh to much and a few sources said that the KR model would be getting the aluminum block used in the Ford GT that would take about 150 lbs of the front but I really doubt that it'll get that block. The other thing is the new V8 Camaro's are do to weigh in around 3750 and that's with an all aluminum pushrod engine which weigh less than their a OHC counterparts in the 1st place, not to mention one with a blower and an iron block. Do the math put an aluminum block in the GT500 and it will weigh nearly the same as a GTO or 09 Camaro. True the GM's have IRS but the GT500 has the added weight of a blower and produces 100 more hp. So if a Mustang was equipped with a N/A aluminum 5.4 and IRS it would be very even with the Camaro in weight and equipment and also power. The 5.4 N/A can easily make 400hp seeing that the Cobra R and Boss 290’s put out 385 with a much lower compression ratio than the LS2, plus the new 4valve heads from the GT and GT500 flow much better.
WHEW! sorry guys just had to get it out there.

Yea and anyone of those cars, would run circles around a 3800-4000lb solid rear axle mustang.
An 03 cobra, wasnt 32k when it first came out either. Closer to 40k, I would imagine. It is far more impressive to eek out 395hp and 415hp from 3.6-3.8 liters N/A, opposed to 4.6 V8 supercharged 395hp cobra. Plus, I would much rather have a Porshe or Nissan, over a Ford. Sorry, thats just my opinion!

If any one with a stang f-body or GTO spent that extra 15 or even 40000 G’s they’d save on suspension they'd kill the Nissan and the Porsche
I highly doubt that. Nissans and Porshe mainsteam agenda isnt to produce huge numbers, with large motors. It's to produce a tightly sound lightweight chasis, that can outperform cars in there class.
I would love to see a GTO/GT 500 vs a Nismo 395hp 350z or a Porshe Carrera S on an autocourse! It would even be funny. You are talking about a car, that weighs nearly 500-600 more lbs and not designed for a roadcourse.

This is the 3rd magazine, that has posted better times with a 350z, over an EVO MR. Take a look how the GT500 compared.

Looks to me like the GT500 made up for its shortcomings with power even when it wasn't running right still finished a second faster than the Z. Still I know that the two cars are ment for different things, plus thanks for the link it was a cool article. I wouldn't mind seeing how the mustang shelby the N/A one tweaked at Shelby's work shop would compare to the Z. What makes me laugh about Ford is a few years ago a mag did a similar test and a 03 Mach 1 actually beat the Z in a road course wasn't as quick through the turns but made up for it with it's extra power only won by a 10th if I remember. With all this talk about how great the new style stang is how come it can't out perform a similar priced model from the previous generation shame on Ford. Worst is the bullits and 99, 01 cobras handled even better.

That's sex on wheels! With something that beautiful, who cares that it weighs so much. Drop a few well-placed mods on it and the weight is negated by 650+ rear wheel. Plus, exclusivity of owning such a limited production vehicle. It would sound amazing, look amazing, and get looks no matter where it went. I like it.

anyone remember the concept mustang GT that was going to come out before ford released the model that is on the road now?
http://www.stangnet.com/mustanggtconcept/
if only that was the standard GT. i could see ford selling a whole lot more. not that they don't already, seeing a mustang every other car on the road.

For the amount of money you need to shell out for the gt500 or the KR, I think I would build a real cobra that would be faster than either of those cars could hope to be in a straight line or around a road course.
Oh, and I would still have plenty left to buy a new camaro.

Thats is pathetic. Giving up 10-13 mph, with roughly the same hp. O well, I dont know what It'll take, for Ford to understand, that hp isnt the key to acceleration and that added weight, isnt the key for nimbleness! And please, get rid of the solid rear end!

Trap speeds don't win drag races. The ET is what matters in most forms of Drag Racing. If I run 10.0@130 and you run 10.1@145 I'll still win the race if we both get off the tree in a similar amount of time.
Ford is, as always, targeting stoplight racers and weekend drag strips goers with this Mustang. The car has a solid axle due to simplicity, weight, cost effectiveness and reliability.
An IRS isn't the holy grail of handling. A car can handle VERY well with a solid axle. I'll refer you to any number of videos posted on this very site with Camaros and Firebirds leaving Porsches and Ferraris in their wake.
Almost nothing in life is black and white. This is especially true for cars.
HP per liter means nothing. NOTHING! HP per LB of vehicle is important. That information all by itself will not tell you what vehicle will win a particular race either. However, all of that is trumped by results though. As heavy as the GT500 is it has gone BLAZINGLY quick at the drag strip with few modifications. There was a firehawk for sale on this site not long ago making approx 330rwhp and running high 11's near 3500lbs. How?! It had a very well setup chassis and a great converter. That won't show up in simple X per N equations.
You sound like another iteration of 25psi. No one was impressed with his flawed logic and I suspect even fewer will be impressed by yours.

Traps show an indication of power. Your logic is tainted, by assuming your primary racing is done at the track.
For you to arrogate, that a solid rear end setup, handles just as well as irs, proves to me, that your logic is flawed! Since the majority of Super Cars, BMW, Audi, Toyota, Honda, Zonda, Lambo, Ferrari, etc..., found it necessary to follow in the footsteps of Ford, by utilizing a solid rear end .Let me ask you this. Why has Roush, surpassed the GT 500, with their own variation of the supercharged Mustang, with a 450hp! Take a look at the stats and tell me, why did they opt, for an IRS setup. Times posted, exceeded that of the GT 500 in, 1/4 mile, slalom etc.....and everyother category listed.
HP Per Liter, might not mean anything to you, but it proves, that you dont have to stuff, the largest motor possible, to achieve similar numbers! It is idiotic of you, to conceive, that hp/liter is void. If that were the case, there wouldnt be this "WAR" going on, between Chevy and Dodge for hp supremecy! I dont know how many times, on this forum, have I heard ' the Z06 is faster than the viper, despite two less cylinders and less liters"! That alone, tells me, people are focused on hp/liter! On another note. I find it, more impressive, that a manufactor, can produce insanely numbers, from a relatively small displacement motors, such as Honda, Porshe, Nissan, BMW, etc.....
S2000-240hp w/2.0 liters
Nismo Nissan 350z-395hp n/a 3.7 liters
Porshe- 415hp 3.6 liter
BMW M5-500hp 5.0 liter(8500 rpm redline)
This is the kind of ingenuity I like.
The GT 500, is not amamazingly quick stock. I dont know what it is, that your not comprehending. The car traps, at 115! This is not, supercar territory nor is it in competition with any of its competitors.
Like I iterated before, Ford needs to listen to its competition! Focus on what make a sports car, a sports car.
