LOL I don't think Porsche has to worry about the Cobalt stealing any sales.

It's still going to be GM **** quality. But the bang for the buck is there for the guy who CAN'T afford a Porsche.

Have you seen the new stuff from the General?

Like a new Corvette with the leather package?
Or even the new Malibu, it's DAMN nice from the $$$$.
From what I heard the G8 is upscale too.

Hell, the materials that cover the seats might not never be like the Italians use, but it has gotten MUCH better.

cool little car, I wanna see how the SS/TC sedan turns out, would make sweet car for the Mrs. and kids.
If ya'll think it looks ugly, you probably didn't scroll down and see the thumbnails, looks pretty good for a Cavalier

I'm sure it's a nice car and all, but that sounds a bit propagandish to me... that time would be just two seconds less than a Porsche 911 GT3. That's a race car. 380hp. 185mph top speed. There is no way a Cobalt is anywhere NEAR that. If I see them do it side by side, sure... but no autoblog.com entry is gonna make me believe that a 3,000lb 260hp FWD econo-car is gonna TOUCH a race-bred 3,200lb 380hp GT3. Sorry. Maybe they were running a different configuration of the Nordschleife or something... I don't know.

Edit: For the record (and further belief that this time is only half-true), that would be 3 seconds faster than a Callaway C12 Corvette. Does ANYBODY buy that?

1) You can edit Wikipedia... not a credible source
2) 3 seconds faster than a Callaway C12? Do you honestly believe that? The C12 does 200mph+.

This would mean that not only does the new Cobalt handle FAR better than a stock C5, it handles FAR better than a Callaway C12... have you read anything about the C12?

The 911 GT3 ran a 7:42, which would be 40 seconds faster than this Cobalt.

I am going according to this link... http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?vie...ID=0&tID=10073. And excuse me, it's a 993 GT3 that I'm referencing. But as you can see on that list, 8:22 from the Cobalt isn't happening in that track-configuration. Unless of course you think that the Cobalt is 3 seconds faster than the Callaway AND the new M5. Which it's not. Which makes me doubt the 8:22 claim SEVERELY.

I honestly doubt the C12 was being pushed to its limits, a C5 "Z05" (europe only model, its a C5 with Z06 suspension and an LS1) ran 8:18 with 50 less hp. And a C5 Z06 broke 8 minutes, I would expect the C12 to beable to at least touch low low 8s.
Either way the Cobalt probably had some really sticky tires, and a whole different suspension setup than the previous SC'ed car.
EDIT: If I remember right there is a video of the SS, Ill look for it later.

Or they're running the different configuration... depending on the run, the start of the lap is different. Hence the discrepancies.

If that video is supposed to represent the 8:22, he doesn't even start the run at the traditional starting line. When they do the running-start runs, they start SEVERAL turns back... I'd venture to say a mile or more back.

The majority of the true "time-attack" videos I've seen involve a running start down the main straightaway.
