I have been waiting a long time to see this engine come out. Now just waiting to be able to order one in a 1500 GMC sierra. I forsee trucks in the future being diesel powered and gas engines becoming few and far. Unless they come out with some breakthroughs with gas engines generating the same power and efficiency. It will be sad to see v8's dissappearing, without being a hybrid.

that's impressive!
310 hp and 520 ft lbs from a 4.5L turbo diesel...
****, my 5.9L turbo diesel only has 220hp / 570ft lbs, for now..

Seriously. Hum, pull one of these out of a wrecker and put it in a scratch built sports car. Probably a bit heavy, but, I'm sure you can find weight out else where. It'd be nice to see GM start to promote this with an LMP or LMP2 sports car project.

I am sure this new engine will weigh a little bit more than an iron block v8 probably more along the lines of a BBC. I wonder what kinda fuel mileage I could gain from putting this motor in my ZR2? Small and light truck with a diesel pushing it should do really well. Think that might be something to look into...

That doesn't sound like a bad idea, its actually brilliant! When i went to this past race at Sebring, theres promotion for the Audi TDI Diesel Power everywhere. It would be great to see another GM powered LMP car, and be powered by a diesel will make it pretty damn awesome.
