V8 production is down. GM pulls the plug on a future twin cam V-8. Is the V8 dead?

If they start making Industrial trucks out of Tonka toys, sure. I am sure school buses will just have kids pedaling.

All the major companies are scaling back trucks and large motors, not just GM.

There is no damn excuse for us, the USA, to be in the position we are in today.

Both political parties in the last 20 years have been in power............... Why are we now just thinking about energy?

There are lots of problems in this country. More folks know more about their favorite sports team than who teaches their kids.

I am going to the US Nationls while I still can. see ya!

I don't buy into the doom and gloom. GM's V8's get better gas mileage than Honda V6's, so its not going anywhere. Probably pulled the plug on a twin cam motor, cause they realized they are kicking everyone else's *** in HP/gas mileage with one cam. Who wants more than one cam anyway? Becomes a expensive pain in the *** when it comes time for modding.

Unfortunately, there's a negative stigma associated with V8's fueled by idiots and liberal tree-hugging whackos like Al Gore. He's proven that you don't need any actual evidence to convince the masses to buy or not buy something. You just need to convince people they are making a difference and that's enough for them, science be damned. In the meantime, the people selling "green" products are laughing all the way to the bank.

V8 is evil dont' you know? 4 banger is the only way if you even care the slightest bit about the environment! And if you REALLY care, you won't drive a car at all, because carbon is evil, even though all lifeforms are based off it darnit!

The sad part is the new carbon sequestering we are going to start doing. I just don't even know what to think of it.

Personally, I think everything is a resolvable and natural process but it is the question of how much of it can we do and it not build up to unacceptable levels. That would be directly related to population/overpopulation.

I saw a thread here recently (don't remember where I saw it) showing the window stickers for a LS1 F-body and a new V6 Accord. IIRC the LS1 F-body actually listed better mileage.

Al Gore needs the left over cam from the cancelled twin cam shoved up his ***, along with Pelosi and the rest of those stooges!

A V6 MDX does 15/20 while a V8 Tahoe does 14/19 while being larger. The V8 stigma is not always true. Sure it's not better, but for the extra heft it seems to do good. Smaller displacement, more valves and cams and less size/weight but only 1mpg better.

I agree. ******, all of us!

Well...at least I admit it.

The V8 won't go away, it will adapt. Kinda like plants, animals, and all living things. The thinking humans will adapt it.
