A new generation model typically means that a model has changed extensively - exterior and/or interior changes. I would hardly say that the CTS-V has changed extensively from '05 to '06. Yeah, the engine changed but to the inexperienced eye, the '05 to '06 model years look identical. Compare an '07 CTS to an '08 CTS or an '07 CTS-V to an '09 CTS-V , it doesn't take much to see the differences.

You have a point! But you must also agree going from LS6 to LS2 is a big change too!!!

Not really. .3 L displacement change with the same power output.

Nah, I can't agree to that. A 0.3L difference is hardly a change when you are above the 5.0L mark, both have the same basic V8 architecture (pushrod) and especially when both have the same posted ad-hoc HP & Torque ratings.

A 1st-generation CTS, MY2003-MY2007). It had two engine variants for the V-series - LS6, LS2.
A 2nd-generation CTS starts at MY2008.

Label your poll to address those three releases.

Yes it is, But due to the excelerent level of the zagerhaust system & the contoriumassist valve being changed on the
hyperextremistsystem it became well adapted to the cts-v from the truck in which it came

I like the Cruise Control on the steering wheel as on mine. It seems every GM vehicle has it on the stalk.

I would vote 2g because of the updated diff and the extra cubes. Hypothetically, it has the potential to make more power because of this.

I'm with you on that. I looked for a 04-05 because I wanted the LS6, and it's really not that hard to find one that has either had an upgraded rear (or needs one). I would really like the steering wheel radio controls, though.
