im also thinking of going this route. alot cheaper than a new 800.00 system that produces very little hp gains. i will probably leave resonator tho. i dont want it to loud.

im really debating in putting on the X-Pipe. If I do put it on, and get headers later on, i'll need mufflers again cause that will be really loud im sure.

an(nu)al inspection with a direct readout .

Not sure how your inspections work there but I too chopped off my mufflers and emissions are fine. As long as the cats are in place, I dont see any reason why you couldn't remove the mufflers and resonators and still pass emissions.

Sounds nice!

When I first got mine, I went a similar route. Got a Magnaflow X-pipe and tips, then removed the fiberglass from the mufflers. I later changed it to the full cat-back when I got headers.

dude! i was gonna buy the magnaflow catback and try to find some off-road pipes to remove the cats to give it a little more sound, but this sounds really good! before i heard the sound, i thought that it would sound like absolute poo!

i may just go this way.

did you have a muffler shop put it on for you?

MORE VIDS AND SOME PICS PLEASE!!!!

Jeremy

I think Houston and Dallas have the sniff test. Unsure on how it'll effect it though. As long as you don't delete the cats you should be fine IMO.

Good stuff. I have Magnaflow on mine and the exhaust tips have a bit of rust. Got the car 6 months ago and previous owner just put in the Magnaflow. I guess I just need to put on some SS tips.

well california is probably the most stringent smog state. ive never had a tech even look at the exhaust. and i dont think that there would be a problem even he they did.

the mufflers have nothing to do with smog. people put aftermarket mufflers on all the time. there is no difference (emissions wise) between an aftermarket muffler and no muffler except sound. the cops are the only ones who would sweat you on that.

smog techs check under the hood, check the gas cap, and stick the sniffer in the tail pipe.
