I wouldn't be asking them for a new motor. I'd be EXPECTING a new motor and quickly. They should be apologizing for the mess and your inconvenience at the very least. You might want them to have a look at the clutch and transmission at the same time. If they balk at any of this just ask who would be the correct person for the local TV news crew to talk to when they come for an interview.

How do you know the HG went? I am very bummed to hear about your woes. Hopefully you get a nice fresh in wrapping LS6 or LS2 crate motor to go along with a new rear end, transmission, shifter and seat (because we all know the seats are now tainted too )

I had a brand new '98 TA and had a service manager...yup, I said service manager tell me that he just had my car up to 120...punched him dead nut between the eyes too. Ended up costing me a few hundred bucks and a grand for a lawyer but satisfaction none-the-less!

^that is priceless!!!! What happened afterwards?
to the op, don't settle for anything less than a new drivetrain. If they fucked the motor, the rest is not far behind.
Furthermore, I am a tech for a dealer, and I can personally vouch for me and only me. Any car that comes on my lift whether it's a slow *** jolopy or super expensive luxury, or all out strip monster, the vehicle is treated with the most care and RESPECT. Not only for the vehicle, but for the owner, for my workplace, for the other drivers on the road and for me. No car I have ever wrenched on has been beat or driven hard in any fashion. Any car that requires a hard or fast test drive to duplicate a customers concern is done with the customer behind the wheel, not me!

well they told me that it was the head gaskets so my father and i both went down there to check it out today and the head gaskets are perfect!!! they are mls gaskets which are very hard to f up unless you really grenade a motor. so now the mechanichs are standing there scratching there heads not knowing what to do next. When it isnt leaking coolant past the gaskets there is only two other places it could be coming from. cracked heads or a cracked block. the pistons were also a gold color which means extremely high cylinder temperature.
i am good friends with the drive train specialist for gm of the west coast. this problem is being handled. i will give you more info when i get back from diner.
p.s. there were no fender covers on the car and there was hand prints and scratches all over the fenders.
