05 CTS-V, suspension ideas chime in!
#21
I'm going Eibachs with Sachs T2 shocks, hotchkiss sways & C5Z06 endlinks for now. I'll see in a few months how that works on the track.
If you go with any of the spring only kits (Eibach, H&R, etc.) you will need to either swap to non load-leveling struts in the rear or mod the rear spring perch, so the stock nivomats won't jack the car back up when you turn it on.
With the GC kit, they have the perch mod including into the kit, which is why you see so many people running GC with stock FE4's or FG2's.
If you go Eibach or H&R, then you would have to swap the rear structs to something like QA1's, base CTS sport structs (FE3's I think), or some cheapies like Monroes. I was lucky and scored some lightly used Sach T2 non load leveling struts on the cheap. If you you swap the rear struts, it's a good idea to match the fronts as well. At that price point, it's not much more to go to one of the quasi-coil over solutions like KYB, KW or KSport.
You could really blow a nut, and buy rear coil overs like Penske's for about $5k
Good luck with your mods.

that's a great post chris. thanks a bunch.
its just that one answer i'm still looking for as far as ride height. Let's say I get Eibachs which thus far seem to have the lowest setting for just "springs", if i have my ground controls set at the lowest setting, am I going to be looking at the same ride height as the eibach springs?

There is another thraed going on about modifying the actual perch location itself instead of just removing the spacer like GC does (based on the old WildWhl mod). Check it out here:

okay okay... so i found out D2 makes a set of coilovers for around the same price as the k-sports
http://www.d2racing.com/content/products/RS_coilovers
anyone tried these yet? anyone recommend a pick out of the 2? I believe they both have to use the front upper mount which sorta sucks.

k-sport and D2 are 2 different companies. my friend knows the owner of D2 and is trying to get me a good price. i just want to know if anyone has ran these.
also, i've noticed that both of these require the use of the top mount of the front shock instead of a true "complete coilover".

I was just basing this off of some things I read on the DSM forums. They said that the D2, KSport and Megan coilovers were identical other than color and the brandname on them. Might be wrong though. Let us know what you find out.
