You have the stock gearing? What RPM where you at when you hit 170?

I thought we could only go 163 becuase of the gears...

Huge tailwind, 30 degree downgrade, sandbags tied to front bumper, super-light helium in the tires,,,

If you are stock, yes the gearing wont let you climb past 163. Basically you are drag limited to 163. If you have more hp you can pull in 6th gear. As many have said, its not the best on the engine. The .57 ratio for 6th is a lot for the engine to spin over and can do a number on an engine.

By the way I was on a flat road no wind except what I was making by pushing this brick to 170!

Exactly right, I think ?
The 163 is normally the top of 5th gear & the V hasn't got enough power to pull 6th gear with it's aerodynamics & is drag limited until you can produce enough hp to overcome this brick wall.
By the way has anyone seen any hood pins that would help keep it stable at high speed, But would be not really noticeable as far as looks. Really like to have something to hold the hood more securely, But still let it look like a Caddy.

I saw those but they look weird to me. Plus, you have to mold them in and I don't know if they would be flush.

Think I gotta agree with you on this one.
Just trying to visualize what they'd look like & the exact
Positioning of where to put them.
You ever see a V with hood pins ?

Hate to put holes in my new hood & decide I don't like em on there.

you allready have a huge hole (albit covered with fiberglass) in your hood.
two more wont kill the look, i think it goes with the overall feel of your
cars peronality.

i like the black locking ones in the slide show(pg 3) for my car. thanks for the
link jerrad!

Even if you didn't like them, its not like they couldn't fill them. I mean they just cut a huge hole in the hood and are going to cover it with a scoop hand molded in. I dont think the small holes are going to be a problem for them. lol

Thread is useless without Nice's "fanny blower" video going through gallons of meth to break 170s!

i cruise around, one handed wheel style cocked down low like master p pimp style
leaning g mack momey grip mean muggin vegas style at 120 just to grab a coffee.
i'll concur that the hood distorts something fierce at 150+ and worries me too!

You could see if the body shop can counter sink the hood pin that I suggested. Cut a hole with a hole saw, mold a bracket 1/8 inch under the hood surface. I don't know man. Either way the car will look bad *** imo.
