Default home made urethane motor mount $40

only complicated part is finding the shore 80A 2 part urethane, mix it up and pour into your mold

no i dont have a hardware list etc. just do what you see.

mount top and bottom studs to a plate, notch the tacked washer so that urethane will go between the cuts and keep from spinning

i used 2.5" exhaust tube cut to the motor mount lenght.. i believe i used 3 5/8" tall myself. try tocenter this stuff on the studs. tape the bottom section to keep it from leaking out of your poorly cut exhaust tube.. dunk the top in and spin it around a bit to make sure no air is trapped under

wait longer than i did to pry it apart, be patient. try some grease on the surfaces so it will separate easier, i will next time around, it was a bitch to disassemble the mold

i also had to cut the exhaust tubing off of the mount

assemble!

install!

works perfectly, much less vibration than my original home made mount

this is just a thought, maybe you could make a half a dozen
and put them up on ebay. all who frequent the forums will know they're yours.

i'm sure they'll sell.

you would be benifitting the v community, and
would be inline for some good karma.

hmmmm... well i normally try to help those help themselves but these are very easy to make really.. ill think about it.

On the suject of longevity did you do any research on the urethanes ability to contend with heat?

Is this urethane a 2 part?

I think my motor mounts are fragged, the shifter moves like at least an inch when I roll into it from idle in first.

What about getting some hockey pucks? Just drill a hole in them and run a long nut and bolt threw them.

eh, go for it, but if they stay together it will probably just end up feeling like a solid mount.

this is much softer than that type of material

Ok, Your doing stuff that I have no machine shop to do!!! I used to work at one wayyyy back in the day and believe me!!!! MIGHTYMOUSE is not joking about getting an itch to bould when you have a full machine shop at your desposal.... I used to make EVERYTHING when I worked in 1!!! Nothing like motor mounts, but flathead/philips head screw drivers, screws, and whatever else I had an itching for at the time!!!!! I sit at a desk now

Oh ya, Before I started ranting I meant to say that "I dont have a machine shop" and it would be cool if you built and sold them for us unlucky desk working pencil pushers

David, have you been removing/installing the mounts with the exhaust in place? Just doing the driver side? Looks good man!

PS - Looks like you could have left that exhaust tubing on there. May have provided a bit of extra support (keep the urethane from squishing out under tension).

the b&b header is surprisingly hassle free to get in and out, thats what i been doing.

its entirely possible a ring of tubing could be left around the mount for extra support, but one could just as easily switch to harder material. the material seems to be ok as is. i would not want any metal to metal contact at all.

The only thing is that it doesn't have a safety interlock if it separates or how does that work?
