Yes, that is another big area where the tuning helps. A lot can be done with the A6 to make it have fast crisp shifts but it may not be as rewarding as rowing the gears yourself. Though for a drag launch, I would say it may be an advantage. For my daily drive in traffic I don't mind it too much.

The one and only true downfall to the G8. Leave it to GM to design the perfect compromise car, only to leave out the one factor that draws the majority of the crowd. That G8 I went up against ran 9.1, 9.1, 9.1, 9.1, ..... His 60ft times were around 1.9-2.0 as well. I didn't catch him until 3rd gear and a few feet to go.

I almost picked up a barely used GXP as they are sick cars, but the Caddy luxury and higher class of car won me over. I just hope I don't meet up with a G8 Firehawk and eat my words...

I am guessing he was bone stock as I took an Avis rental G8 GT, with 100 miles on it, to GLD on a 1900ft DA night and got it to run 9.09 1/8 time w/ a 2.09 60' time. My car has run a best of 8.1 in the 1/8.

I think GM wanted to keep the G8 out of the gas guzzler tax and to do that it needed the AFM (dod) and you can't run AFM in a manual tranny car. I think they figured those that wanted a manual would opt for the GXP but then the end of Pontiac came and only ~1800 GXPs were made.

I think it was lame they called it the Firehawk, kind of robbing the T/As of old but whatever. Nonetheless the car was sick, in addition to what Jerrad mentioned it was pushing 500HP. I believe it actually ran high 50k, not 70k but still a ton of money for a Pontiac. You actually had to purchase the car, and then pay for SLP to do the upgrade. This one could really ruin your day (week, year, etc...), not sure if it needs an after-market hood that gives it away:

i dunno if our car was meant to be a serious road racing vehicle it would have seats that support you while you are pulling serious g's.

i think we got a car that does lots of things such as drag, road race, etc... but we got robbed due to wheel hop breaking our diffs.

kinda sad how 12.8s arent to far off from what some modded g8's run and they had a blower added to it.

Yes, that was a pretty crappy time but maggied G8's have run low 12 to high 11s. Obviously, traction really starts to become an issue.

a turbo will cure all concerns...unless the ls3 gets one too... then you're assed out.

Holy crap Jerrad, I stand corrected. That car is sweet but you must be out of your f-ing mind to pay that kind of money for a modified Pontiac.
