Default Intake/MAF tube Pics for Lubelizard

Attached are some photos the stock intake tube compared to two fabricated units from my V. The setup on the right (4" w/102 PowrMax MAF housing & LS7 MAF) is the one currently on the car.

The key element here is the elbow, which is 4" on both of the fabricated units. It's much less restrictive and likely produces less turbulence (especially with a 90mm or larger TB) than the smaller aftermarket stuff, which is generally 3.5" (or less).

A 3.5" silicone elbow has to be stretched/distorted to get it over even an LS6 (78mm) TB.

What's the gains that you get or purpose of using a LS7 MAF? Honest question.. and also how much did it cost to fab this setup? Do u have a writeup?

The OEM MAF and intake tube were a big restriction, holding the motor to lower 90s kpa readings at WOT with the stock manifold. Even the 1st fabbed tube and stock MAF were still a borderline setup, so when I went to the LSXR 102 manifold, I needed to relieve the restriction.

The the 4" tube, PowrMax MAF housing and LS7 MAF sensor and a new tune by Ed at Virginia Speed did the trick. WOT kpa readings are 101-102 now (near sea level).

Bear in mind that this motor is a mildly cammed LS7 with some head work and 1 7/8" Kooks, so what worked here will probably not be the best for a smaller (less that 400 cid) motor.

The lower intake tube, shown in the first two photos, would certainly be a benefit on over the stock intake tube. It consists of a 4" 90* elbow, a 4" to 3.5" reducer, some 3.5" aluminum tubing and a 3.5" hump connector at the MAF end.
