Kooks are nice but expensive. I've run pacesetters in the past and they are nice headers and fit well for the money. I guarantee they are not the same part number as the GTO's. Either buy the painted pacesetter and send them to be coated yourself or buy the ceramic coated ones. Either way, they are way cheaper and do the same thing as the kooks. PS also offers connector pipes for just a little more. I could have the ceramic coated headers and o/r connector pipes for less than $400. I could have 3 sets of pacesetters for the price of one set of kooks.

Not saying you dont get what you pay for but if its not a huge difference in quality and from what ive seen in the past... it isnt, ill save my money and buy a cam with the difference...

You guys on here bashing the PS, save ur money and buy kooks. This guy just shared his info to help us out and everyone is barking down his throat. And why is the GTO guy even in here stirring the pot? I realize its a public forum but why come in and preach to the V owners when you dont even own one?

You'll buy a cam with a difference in the headers? Are you going to use it as an ornament? Maybe you forgot about springs, pushrods, etc.? If not, I'd like to know where you are getting this done so cheap.

They share a lot of similar components do they not? Have you ever been to another board or section, if so, why? Do you own a Vette, Camaro, GTO? Have you complained to all the Mustang owners on this site? Argument is invalid.

We went with 1 7/8 and didn't have that problem, we removed the steering rod and when we put it back in, all was fine!
I can't believe you smashed up your Kooks

So, looked at lsxperformance site and saw a ceramic coated set of pacesetters. Are these not as good as ceramic coating from another company?

Yes... buying the $400 coated pacesetters with connector pipes would leave me with $800-$900 left over compared to spending $1200-$1300 on the kooks and connector pipes. Are you telling me a cam, springs etc is going to cost more than $900? I priced the stuff myself and i intend to do my own work as i always have. It can be done and maybe even for less than that.

And yes they do but i am primarily pointing out the fact that almost every post ive seen you make in this section thus far has been to bash something someone else did or bought. First it was ferny's wheels and now its the headers on this thread. Noone cares where anyone wanders on the forum... its here for public use and if you're coming in here for info or just to poke around... cool! More the better! However... if you continually reply on threads with negative comments... noone is going to care to hear what you have to say.

And im not sure where you're going with the mustang comment?

Just FYI I priced out pacesetters coated with a vendor for 450 shipped plus you had to have custom connector pipes made and buy cats seperate. Total was 700 bucks plus the labor to have the cats welded in. I got my Kooks 1 7/8 with catted connectors for just over 1100 shipped so the price difference wasnt as significant as some would think, hence why i went with kooks as much as i felt raped with the thousand dollar price tag. So make sure you guys price out a full setup with the pacesetters because its not gonna be a 900 dollar savings. Also, PS is only producing o/r pipes when they release them so those who want cats have to buy seperate and have them put in.

So I guess you expect everyone else to do the install themselves? FYI I am looking at a cam package now that is roughly $600, then add a few hundred to the install and it adds up fast. Please don't tell me you are referring to the coating that pacesetter install on their header? It also seems as if you qouted a set of kooks with a real coating and catted mids to a set of cheapily coated pacesetters with o/r mids. You know Pacesetter only coats the outside of their headers, right?

As far as bashing the wheels, really? I told the guy I liked the car and all, just not the color combo. Must everyone agree with you all the time for you not to pout? If you can't figure out the Mustang comment, then I rest my case.

I've done my share of helping on this forum, various installs on the ls4 cars. Clutches in the vettes, gto's. So dude, I have nothing against you, or anyone here, but criticism and opinions are gonna happen.

The guy i spoke with included the offroad connector pipes for right at $400. I didnt care because i dont want cats anyway.

Either way, you got a good deal on your kooks! Im not 100% set on either one but as of right now since im a baller on a budget... lol... Im think i might go pacesetter...

Not busting your ***** here but did he specify what coating was on these headers? Pacesetters coating is an exterior only coating, and not of great quality. IMO it would be best to get a plain set and have them sent off yourself.

GTO pacesetters - coated by paceseter

I know on the GTO's you are able to adjust the rack enough to usually get enough clearance whether it be pacesetters or kooks headers.

I dont expect anything at all. I simply stated what it would cost ME to get one in my car and you pretty much called BS. And yes, i am and i realize the coating isnt great but the price difference is rather huge! For me and a lot of others who plan to ditch the cats anyway (dont know why anyone would want to keep them unless your under the smog laws in cali) its worth it because the o/r pipes is all we need. And yes, i know they only coat the outside. I ran a set on my truck and after almost 2 years, they still looked great. Im in a climate where stainless and awesome coating isnt a must have though it is a luxury if you want to spend the $$. As far as price comparison, I just stated what ive heard people on here say they paid for their kooks compared to the price i was quoted by the PS dealer i was speaking with.

I understand everyone has their opinion and that fine... It just seemed like yours was always toward the negative side everytime id see a post by you on someone elses thread. Mustang comment still doesnt make sense to me. I had an 03 cobra before the V but i dont believe i ever posted on here about it but whatever.

And thats great man. I was just making a statement that your comments always seemed to be negative. Nothing against you either... maybe it was just a coincidence in the threads i was reading where you posted but anyway... no hard feelings.

This^, and you guys are lucky if you don't have to have cats. They do a obd2 and visual check here. Of course I could just hollow mine out and they wouldn't know the difference.

Technically... we arent "allowed" to not have cats but emissions aren't as big of a deal here as they are in other places so they never check...

i cant believe hes gonna make custom connector pipes and give you coated headers for 400.....doesnt sound right. pacesetter has not yet released there connectors either. Im a baller on a budget as well but like in my other thread I had to bite the bullet and spend the cash for a tested product for not a ton more money.

Swear on my life it came with connector pipes man. Why would I lie? I'm going to hunt through my pm's for the number because that was the highlight for me when I was looking.

im not saying your a liar lol im saying i cant see how they could be that cheap with custom connector pipes and coated headers. Retail for the ehaders themselves were 750 direct from PS when I called. Dont see how they could sell for 400 with conenctor pipes and not lose money.

I know retail is not what vendors sell or pay I was just saying.

When i called, he quoted me $340 for the headers alone with the ceramic coating and then said for an additional $60, i could get the O/R connector pipes so they would bolt right up. This was in no way retail price. Someone else here posted a link to a contact at PS and somehow through talking with those guys, we came to this price.
