C'mon man, you went low 12's spraying a 100 shot. You think sticking 4th would give you the same ET? I know your 60' was better for the NA pass but your statement above is misleading.
Sure the MS3 does good on the strip, but for a daily it might not be the best choice.
Personally I'd go with a small cam on 110-112 lsa, you will get the sound you want and good low end power. Then spray a 100 shot on the track.

And i found a TS-MS3 cam im looking at. Its brand new in the box for $300. It belongs to a guy my buddy knows that ordered it for his SS and then ran short on cash and needs to get some money out of it. Its .605/.610 lift on 112 LSA. No springs or pushrods... cam only. Says he paid $440 shipped to his door and just wants to recoupe some cost...
If that would be a good cam for me, now might be the time to grab it while i can get a deal on one...

You planning on going N/A or juice or forced? I think a lot of the N/A guys run a 110-111 LSA. 112-113 is better for juice/forcefed I believe?
Can anyone chime in on this?
Another thing to consider, the taller lifts don't necessarily mean more flow with your heads. For instance stock heads might flow better at a shifter lifter than ported. I know my stg 2.5, 5.3 heads from TSP flowed great at .600 but it tapered off after anything taller. So see if you can find a write up on stock 243 head's flow numbers!

Don't get me wrong I loved my car with the MS3 in it, 460/420 to the tired was a blast. It just took till 4000+ rpms for it to start coming alive in a 3000 lb car!

I plan to spray a 100 shot minimum eventually but possibly a 150 considering how she does on the 100 shot.
The heads are stock for now but ill eventually upgrade those. So... if i were to cam it first, id rather get something that will work best with my final setup than buy something that works well with stock heads and then have to change it once i get deeper into the mods...

all this talk about torque really makes me happy i started off with spray lol, im making 472rwtq with stock headers and a basically stock car. Im thinking when I go with a cam its gonna be one of the torquer cams but I also think a custom specd cam from someone like Patrick G would be very beneficial for a car like the V due to its weight and attributes.

Top speed in 3rd gear in a stock V is about 95mph at 6500 rpms. Right?
Now, we take a big cam, rev the sucker to 6900 rpms, and you got about 100 mph in 3rd gear.
Now, I missed 4th gear at 100 mph, right? Okay, I missed 4th, got out of it for about 1 sec, then I got it in 4th gear and got back on the gas to cross the traps at 112 mph. Is this more clear?

Point is, I have personal experience with a big cam in my V. It still makes a great DD if tuned properly for drivability.
People that havent had a big cam in their V to experience how it drives under normal conditions, cant really say that it would be a bad choice for the V.
I can say, the short gearing in our Vs really help out a lot. My car can still come off a stop light in 2nd gear too, and I have a very light flywheel.
Remember, its all in the drivability part of the tune.
