Default Tint question

I recently had the V tinted, but there has been an issue with the tint coming off the top of the back window.

Anyone else have these issues? The guy a the shop said he'd take care of it, but said all the 'dot matrix' cars on the back have issues with it sticking.

Thoughts? Is it BS?

My thought was to remove the tint in this section, I think it'd look better than the uneveness of it at the top.

Thanks,

Chris

I just got my 05 CTS-V tinted last week and it's all good (so far).
Get the sunroof tinted best $35 I spent on the car. Now I can keep the sunroof shade open and keep all the heat out.

The dots on the rear window are impossible to tint. You can try to keep going over it but it still wont be perfect. C6 guys have the same issue.

Mine realy isnt very noticeable.

Yeah mine is pretty bad. It's really noticable with 5% tint too. Fortunately I have a lifetime warranty on both the installation and the tint itself. I just need to find the time to get back over to the tint shop and throw a fit about their shoddy workmanship. There are other spots on the car where it started to bubble too.

Yep matrix is a huge PITA, my fix and a lot of others fix for it is to removwe the tint over the matrix, and get someone like D&L or anyone who tints to lay a strip of black Vinyl over it. It is not see through and will get rid of the matrix. It also doesnt obstruct your view since its so high up on the back window. I would take pics of mine but ive tried before and getting good pics without glare is impossible. Good luck, BTW it costs like 30 bucks for the vinyl.

I had this problem on my Mustang and forsee having it with my V when I get it tinted too. What the guy wound up doing with the Stang was putting an opaque black vinyl strip across the top where the "dot matrix" part was. It didn't limit visibility any more than the dot matrix crap already did, and for some reason the material used adhered better than the tint.

There is a method using an elmers glue stick that is supposed to work great. Search the web and you'll find it.

Its hit or miss, ive had two cars that got the glue stick trick and neither have them worked out, they both resulted in having vinyl laid over it as well as my brother two cars.

On an old subaru I had, they used the glue trick. Worked great. A friend of mine just had his done that way and it looked horrid. Ended up with vinyl around the dot-matrix. I honestly think it comes down to the experience and amount of time the "tinter" is willing to give your car. I have read about people actually sanding down the dots to get a better look/adhesion too.

I've heard of tinters lightly sanding the dot matrix.

Edit: Just saw that DoctorNick mentioned sanding, guess that makes two of us.

Thanks guys. The place I went to said he'd make it right and it came with a lifetime warranty. The rest of the car is flawless! He also does vinyl wraps, so I'm sure it'll be alright.

I'll post up some pics before and after.

I had vinyl put on my c6z and you can't see it at all. Looks great and like others have said you can't see out of that part in the mirror so sight isn't' affected. I also have Limo tint on my z, so you can't even tell it's vinyl.

Never seen anyone do it with a lighter shade....
