Who uses AMSOIL in their V?
.....if you do what weight do you run? Do you like it? worth getting? I've heard some good things about it, and am debating getting it for my V?
Any thoughts on it?

its in my diff and engine right now.. standard V weight 5w30...75W-90 in the diff- severe gear and it didn't need any slip additive.. the 75W-90 killed some of the whine compared to stock grape jucie.. some go with a heavier weight and it quiets down the diff even more at the cost of 1-2mpg
i will definitely replace the diff fluid with Amisol.. engine oil .probably not . its all really the same as i didn't notice any change vs Mobil 1... when i swap the trans fluid out, it will be amisol..

Had my oil changed 2 weeks ago. They were out of mobil 1 so I had them put the amsoil 5w 30. I haven't noticed any difference. Seems to be good oil. My buddy runs it in his 07 z71 n he likes it too.

You mean they make other types of lubricants?
5w-30 in the motor
ATF in the trannie
95-140 in the rear with the slip lock additive. I wouldn't NOT use the additive.

only thing i really believe in using amsoil for is for the tranny. It damn near works miracles, ive seen several 4l60s that refused to shift at high rpms (and various other problems that couldnt be tuned out) figured we would try amsoil as a LAST resort before rebuilding the tranny, and it would work flawlessly.
I had a buddy who used to sell it, so ive tried most of their stuff... from my cars to motorcycles, its all good stuff... but other then the transmission, i dont think it makes a difference for the added cost.

ok, thanks for the responses guys, I was looking at amsoil, because of the length of time you can go without changing the oil, it says 25k, but i would never let it go that long, but I am thinking 10k shouldn't be an issue

If you're not "racing" your V, the standard Amsoil synthetic will go much further than 5000 miles. Even just doing a couple OT events a year would still not be enough. A 10k OCI is more than reasonable, only way to know if it can go longer is a used oil analysis. For the transmission, the Amsoil Torquedrive ATF has the best additive package, the standard ATF is great stuff, but the Torquedrive is slightly better. The Severe Gear 75w90 is great diff fluid, might need 2 oz of modifier. If you OT your car frequently, then mixing a bit of 75w110 is a safe bet. The best engine oil Amsoil offers for the LS engine is their 0w30 Sig Series oil. I get Amsoil at dealer cost if anyone needs it.

I run AmsOil 10W40 in my powerstroke deisel tow rig.
I replace the oil filter every 5K and the oil once a year.
Blackstone analysis indicated I could go much longer, but ...
I run AO 15W50 in my race car which sees 300* oil temps regularly.
I replace the filter after every weekend and oil once a year.
Blackstone said I could go longer.
Haven't decided what I'm going to do in my V yet

I had gotten Amsoil for the tranny and diff of my '04 but wasn't able to use it. Put the 75W-90 Severe gear diff fluid in my '09. Other V2 owners had seen a warning light for an overheated diff. Ran at Summit Point last Monday in 95 degree heat and had no issues. Don't know if that is due to the Amsoil, but it didn't hurt, I'm sure...

I run it in my V and my Camaro SS. My Grandfather and Uncle worked on Long Haul trucks for decades and they always used Amsoil for the trucks. Been used for far longer than most on this forum are even aware. I change around every 15k just for piece of mind. If you don't use an Amsoil filter get a good one and just change it out midway through your oil cycle around 8k miles or so. The oil won't break down like your Mobil 1's but it will be best to keep good filtration.
If you can find a good Amsoil dealer you will save BIG BUCKS buying this stuff a case at a time. I went in with a couple of guys and bought nearly three cases. My price per quart was WAY cheaper than Mobil 1 out of your everyday auto parts store.
Cheaper price and better oil. I'm sold!

I run 0W-30 AMSOIL in both my 2010 GMC and my 2009 CTS awd, not a V. I also have been a dealer for some 32 yrs mainly for buying at cost and I have never used anything else. If you are buying a lot of AMSOIL, you should be taking advantage of the Preferred Customer Program saving 25%. I can fill you in on more info on that but you will have to PM me.
