I don't think so. They are very small scoops you install inside the grilles to direct air to the airbox. From what I've been told unless you start replacing big parts, crack the motor open, or get caught with Dinan tunes on your car you're ok. Filters exhaust and other bolts are usually not frowned upon.

OK, I see now. So now you can't get Dinan parts second hand and put them on?

Sorry. From what I've been told it doesn't matter who or what the tune is once you open up the computer and cause damage you're fighting an uphill battle. Most other bolts ons they won't mind. Im not sure a tune is even worth it on this car. Now the new twin turbo bmw's apparently will benefit tremendously.

I'm enjoying it more and more. The last SMG I'll ever buy but it's not bad. I think I'm most impressed with how well and flat the car handles.

Getting sick of the SMG huh?

I always heard the SMG wasn't that much fun. I think even Sharkbait complained about it in her M3.

...to the comment of used v2 prices. I find it hilarous that everyone expects american to drop like a rock in value but the fact is and i've stated it in other forums is that sooooo many people are waiting for used v2's to hit the market that its keeping up the value nice and high. My choice for a v2 over an amg or an M was the fact I could get it in a REAL manual transmission. I heard the manual trans for the m5 was horrendous

This car is as flat as almost anything I've driven. I imagine it does quite well on a track.

Congrats... When you drive a BMW M5, you are little past "being the fastest", llol... but the fit an finish of the BMW is miles away from the Cadillac, with as much as I love the V's...

Maintainance on the BMW? Well, you get what you pay for and new the M5's are going for what about $80K, so of course the maintainance is high... you get what you pay for...

I drive an M3, so basically the poor man's M, lol...

No question, I LOVE the V!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

enjoy

um, wrong... on both counts. The M5 is slower than the V (as proven time & time again, and stated also by BacDoc in this thread). And I've driven both M5 and the V2 and I much preferred the Cadillac.

that makes no sense (to me at least). If you "get what you pay for" wouldn't "you" expect better quality (funny thing, see your first quote, above) and in turn have to spend less money on maintenance?

enjoy
agreed. that's all it should come down to in the end.
