Default Question about STS and CTS-v wheels

Last night on my way home from a soccer game I saw the front end of a STS that had the mesh grill upper and lower. I though hey look at that, a STS-v, there are not many of these guys in my area. So I went over to take a look. As I first walked up I did not see any V badges on fender so I glanced down to the wheels and it had chromed CTS-V wheels! I looked inside and it seemed like a standard STS. I walked to the back and it had the "3.6L direct injection" tag on the left side of the trunk! I went back and counted the lugs and it was a 6-lug. I am confused here...I thought the V models where the only one that had the 6-lug pattern and the STS-V is a 4.4L S/C and has two-tone leather interior or the suede like us.

Did this person trade axles???!!!???

STS-V and CTS-V are the only ones with a 6 lug pattern. As far as I know and have seen the regular STS does not. Otherwise you're right. the STS-V has a leather/suede interior just like the CTS-V, along with a tango red two tone option with the suede in red. The STS-V also has a V emblem on the passenger side of the dash, and a power bulge hood along with different bumpers from the STS. At least they didnt have the badges. I can't stand posers.

It seems that Cadillac had extra V1 CTS-V wheels as well as the 4 piston Brembo brakes. They started adding the 18" CTS-V wheels and 4 piston Brembo brakes to STS models around 2009 i think. I believe they call it a STS sport package. As the V1 CTS is gone and the STS is being phased out they need to deplete their inventory of V specific parts.

First time I saw a v6 STS with bembos, grills and V1 wheels i was like WTF?

ok, I searched google for that and they have a "Performance Handling Package" in 2009 that includes 18" alloy wheels and brembo brakes but I have can't find any pictures showing the 6-lug pattern....oh well.

It did look good and I will say atleast he did not have any V emblems on it, altought I really don't care if people put V emblems on non-V cars.....

There are some CTS and STS that have the V package from the dealership. Sometimes the dealer will even put V badges on them.

Here's a pic of a non V with 6 lug V1 CTS-V wheels and brembos. http://imganuncios.mitula.net/2010_c...n_19743807.jpg

Now I'm REALLY confused. That's a new CTS or what would be a V2 & don't those have 5 lugs?

Cadillac has to get rid of their extra inventory. Why not toss it on a STS and charge an extra $15000? lol

I think the newer STS (08+?) looks like the newer (V2) CTS and looks like they both share that gaudy chrome fender 'vent' (One of the things I do not like about the V2). Personally, I think the previous version of STS looked much nicer than the new one and not real sure what GM is thinking.

Well, the good thing I guess is there's that many more xTS' that use the same brakes and wheels, for when it's time for a replacement. It sounds like only certain STS' have the "CTS V1" wheels and brakes, whereas the 'normal' STS uses 5-lug, just like the regular CTS and now the V2 CTS-V.

No, the pic i posted is a STS, not a V2 CTS.

Yes, the STS typically comes with 5 lug wheels. However, if they need to get rid of 6 lug wheels i'm sure they also need to get rid of the 6 lug hubs. They are basically tossing the V1 CTS-V hub, rotors, calipers (minus V logo), and wheels on the STS.

Just another way to get the Cadillac tax. Good from a business standpoint, but it would suck to be an STS owner in need of repair parts due to the lack of interchangeability with your everyday STS. I have to admit the car looks good like that. Definite DD potential although I would still prefer a 4.6 Northstar in such a heavy car.

Just FYI, the normal STS uses a 5x115mm pattern and 12mm wheel bolts, as did the regular 1st gen CTS. The 2nd gen CTS uses a 5x4.75" pattern and 14mm wheel bolts. So wheels are not interchangeable between them.

I thought the STS with the performance brakes was sort of cool. Especially as early on you could not get HUD on an STS-V, but could get it on a V8 STS.

You could get all the lux goodies of the STS, a decent V8, and awesome brakes, without the potential unknown of a supercharged Northstar motor or the $70k+ price of the STS-V.

Edit: Do the wheels on the STS look polished? That's interesting...

The V's Brembos are bimbos.

They should have whored out more of our parts to non-Caddy cars to make them cheaper.
