*LE SIGH*
Sewell called to say insurance will allow for the unibody panel AND not total it. Work should begin soon. They've had it for two weeks, but got nothing done because of going back & forth with insurance. It'll be another three weeks before it's done!
Sewell will work with me on a custom hood if I pay the difference.
Finally, but it sucks being without the V for so long because I had a lot of fun driving it for the time I had it!
Final total is $12.9k.

Poked my head in the shop today because I needed to get a rental since the Impala's heater core gave up the ghost . . . AGAIN (one of the reasons I started looking for a new vehicle). Also, I got tired of DPS pulling me over for no front plate (twice in 2wks!), so I got a rental:

Paid another visit to the car to drop off some things & pick some things up.

I sent them an email with the hood info, it went to their spam folder. I can forgive that, but they didn't ping me saying "didn't get the email" after a few days. I followed up a week after sending it & they go "oh, never got it". Checked spam, sitting there for a week, but I sent it again & verified they received it. It kinda worked out because I found out the CForum's discount after intitially sending the link. I called them a week later & THEY STILL hadn't ordered the hood though! The car has been sitting around A LOT with very little progress in between.
I stopped by Sat & the trunk was painted, but I forgot to snap the pic. I was yanking the sub & prepping for an aftermarket. I had a stereo shop cut me some MDF to replace the plastic tray crap to mount my Kicker 10". I'll trace it in case anyone wants to copy it. It's pretty slick. They also wired in an LOC for me all for $50 (wood+LOC+labor). I just need to get me some RCAs to run to the trunk & some dynamat before they get the rear window back in.

WOOHOO! Shop emailed me to let me know hood is in. Spoiler is going to be painted w/the hood. I hope maybe early next week.
Also, they got the subwoofer installed for me (basket larger than hole).

I got pics of the wood & traced it for a template. Just took the plastic tray that the stocker was mounted to & cut it near the sub & had a stereo shop use the speaker wire for leads to an LOC.
Other than that, it's standard sub mounted to wood, wood mounted to deck, hole expanded to fit sub basket. I hope they used the accumat stuff around the hole. Oh, and I took a large mousepad & traced the wood & cut it to match.
Top to bottom:
sub
wood
"gasket"
accumat/dynamat
deck
For sanity, I took some spare mousepad & wrapped the LOC with it and duct tape & taped it down so it wouldn't vibrate. I wanted to tape down the RCA too. I fed the RCA thru one of the holes under the tray into the trunk & will mount my amp & use that lead.
