I really like that GT500 ****! I'd paint the pattern black on mine as well.
Does it attach the same way as the factory ****?? Is that installed in your personal car? I may do that exact same thing. Can the stalk be cut any shorter or is 1" the limit?

It's a screw on ****. Thread pattern is 12X1.75 but you could probably use any thread that's a 12mm size and just screw it on b/c its plastic. It has good weight also. I also made a washer with a collar that adds more weight to it so the shifts feel really nice.
I wouldnt cut it any shorter b/c your hand will be hitting the shifter bezel and you will lose some leverage.

Hmmm... I suppose swapping to a threaded shifter wouldn't be too hard. Just cut the stock piece off the top and weld on some threads? I'd be interested in going a little shorter with mine only because I love tiny shifters! Lol I had a fox that we custom made a handle for on my pro5.0 to where my hand was almost flush with the bezel. Insanely short shifts and it never got in the way of my hand. I think I could go a little shorter than "1 on the V without causing hand-bezel clearance issues. At least I hope I can!

azn2dmax posted a link to the instructions. It's pretty straight forward.
I did it all solo.
Based on my lessons learned:
1. B33R does not help car modding. It never has. I don't know why I keep drinking it hoping that something changes.
2. Remove the shifter and the boot.
3. Remove the center console as well. Six bolts, 10mm socket. 5 min.
4. Remove the 6 bolts that hold down the shifter. Then drill out the 2 rivets.
5. Do not try to unclip the entire shifter assembly. YOU DON'T need to remove it from the car. I monkeyed with that for 30 min. I thought about dropping the trans, exhaust, etc....glad I didn't.
6. Replace the shifter bushings. I ended u with a set from Creative Steel.
7. Reinstall with the included hardware.
That's really all there is to it.
I thought there was going to be a massive amount of work removing a ton of parts. It's not. Just do it.
Yep!
And thanks for the update. PM me your address again.
Thanks,
Denny

Lol at the B33R comment! Always sounds like a great idea when starting but always slows the job down. Lol glad u didn't drop the trans and all that cause that would have really been a big pain in the *** and waste of time.
How do u like the CS shifter bushings? Were your stock bushing still in good/decent shape? If so, did the CS bushing really make any difference? Some people swear by the shifter bushing upgrade and some say the difference wasn't noticeable. I'm sure it has to do with the condition of the stock bushings as to the amount of benefit you would recieve from the new ones.

(Repost in the shifter thread showing how the 16x1.5 worked with other *****)
Fits like a glove. The only thing I'd suggest in the future would be to wrap the threaded end in duct tape for shipping because it had busted thru on the envelope. I'd hate to see the threads all buggered up.
As for the ***** themselves, they're pretty sharp. They not super heavy, but not exactly featherweight either. It's almost like a blank billiard ball they hallowed out pretty good, so it's lost a lot of it's mass. You might could load some stuff near the top of the threading to give it more heft. We'll see how it feels once installed.

Your thread that I put on was a 12x1.75 but the GT500 **** is a 12x1.25.
Honestly I think you can use it b/c thethread is made out of "plastic" and you can just force it to screw on. I can get the ***** for $45 shipped. They used to be $40 but my seller jacked up his price. Let me know.
