Default cutouts not loud enough!

last week i put dual cutouts right before the mufflers on my stock V. it has a great tone to it, sounds very nice...but unfortunately it just isnt loud enough. i tried to search but the search function won't work here on my work computer. What can i do as far as cat-delete pipes, or x-pipe? need to order something this weekend!

thanks guys

Before you do more, have you had someone drive the car past you and then hit it? You may be a lot louder than you realize.

havent done that yet, but everyone thats heard it has said the same thing..that it sounds great, but isnt all that loud. my dad even said it wasnt that loud, so i know it needs a little more noise to it.

Time for some headers then. You need power with that noise

essentially putting cutouts before the muffler is like doing a muffler delete, which is a great sound for DD but i know what you mean not being loud enough. Alot of people put them right before the resonator and its LOUD. could try an x pipe to see if that would help but headers really would do wonders lol

Get rid of the resonators and put a Magnaflow x-pipe in its place. Their x-pipe is spaced perfectly. With the stock exhaust manifolds and cats, I put the x-pipe in and no mufflers and it sounded great. If you really want loud, do long tubes with no cats and cutouts..hehe

I have some cat-delete pipes that I just took off last weekend after the header install. Ill sell em for $150 + shipping. I think i paid 250 for them from another member on here. They fit perfectly. If you search for "CTS-V modified exhaust" on youtube... username patsfan922. That is what they sound like with cam, cat-delete pipes, and x-pipe with stock mufflers.

Get some $400 OBX or Pacesetter headders, ditch the cats, add an X pipe and then see how loud it is.

Moving the cutouts seems like the obvious solution. I assume you went with cutouts so it would be quiet sometimes.

that is the correct x-pipe. the V stock exhaust is 2.5 stainless.

and like others have said, if you do a cat-less setup to x-pipe it will be good. but if its still not loud enough (which i doubt, but possible), it will be header time...haha

The x-pipe isn't going to make it that much louder. The greatest audible restriction are the cats. I had a few vids somewhere on this forum of X-pipe and gutted cats. That was okay, once I did the cat-delete, it was exactly where i wanted it. Unfortunately, i had bad resonance (coffee can echo) from the gutted muffs. I couldn't hear it from inside the car, but once i had one of my friends rev it for me, it turned me off and i purchased the corsa cat-back.

So, if you do cat-delete, do not gut your mufflers.
