Default Alternator solutions under $200?

My alternator has went out on my 2005 CTS-V and i was wondering if anyone knew of anyone who would rebuild or can even get parts for this alternator. it seems as tho my local shops can not find any parts on it.

Thanks
Tim-

very hard to get one of these, call Luke at Lindsay cadillac, when i needed one there was only 1 in the USA, he had it... cant remember the cost but wasnt under 200, i believe it was just over 300... easy install, people on CF were saying 3 hr install, pull the power steering and be done in 45mins!

Yeah removing it was a breeze had it out in about 30mins or so, removed fan and i was able to not have to take the power steering pump to access it. But i think when i go to put it back in i will remove the pump should make it alittle easier. thank you for the info.

I don't know where you are, but these guys are your typical 'Good 'ole boys' when it comes to electrical stuff and car mechanics.

Maybe there's someone like this in your area? If anything, call them on Monday and see what they say.

Or talk to a UPS driver, they may know of someone like this hiding in an industrial area near you

I am a UPS driver.

If you ask me, I would tell ya, hey I don't know where they fix alternators at, but I do know a guy who is going to make some clutch remote bleeders, and way cheaper than what we're paying, at that.

Where these used exclusively with Cadillac, or can one from a GTO, vette, etc. work?

Don't forget to google rock auto coupons. There's always a 5% off coupon online.

Yeah, Rockauto is a good source of parts for lower pricing and they have 5% off. Shipping sometimes is $ if it's a small part, but nothing outrageous (I believe they charge you actual rates).

I did a quick search there last night, as I was going to suggest them too (been real happy so far), but didn't see an alternator listed for our cars

The only advice I'll give with them is to check the manufacturer, as they offer chinese parts, as well as good parts (i.e. Moog), so double check and research the brand(s) that pop-up...Another handy feature they use is they will give you all the various makes/.models that the part number applies to and it's interesting on some parts how common they are between manufacturers...Esp. things like belts and so on!

Swing drivers do local deliveries, they just don't have an assigned (bid) route. Fill in for those folks that go on vacation/take time off
