Default Bad rack and pinion it is.....Problem solved, now the hard part.

Well after a day of searching and 3 different garages and an alignment shop we have came to the conclusion the rack and pinion is bad on my 04. As I posted in my thread yesterday, I've been dealing with a sloppy/flopping front driver's wheel that has gotten WAY worse in the past couple weeks. After the first 3 mechanics told me that there was "something" wrong and they just didn't know what the local alignment shop diagnosed it as a bad knuckle on the rack and pinion. Anyone had any problems surrounding this?? Any advice on whether to buy the whole setup or just replacing the bad part?? The owner of the shop is on vacation until Monday and I just got lucky to catch one of the employees there today working on his personal car, so he wasn't able to really give me a price quote.

Mine has some play also. I bought a good tight used one and I'm going to just swap the whole thing out. I think the cradle has to drop a little to get it out though.

Yeah I asked the guy if that would the be easier/cheaper way to go.....He said if I could find one that wasn't in a front end crash it would be a good idea. If I replace the knuckle only and it does fix the problem, I still have 111k+ on the rest of the parts....I started looking around for one today.
