new headlight question - HID lamp color
So my body shop was replacing a cracked headlight assembly and they ordered the $995 HID with auto leveling even though I told them that was the export version. Our cars should get the HID without auto leveling. Anyway, I figured it was no big deal and should still look the same but it doesn't! That new side HID lamp looks yellow and not blue like the other side.
Any ideas? Do the export headlight assemblies with auto leveling use a different HID lamp? Shouldn't it still be blueish in color?
Sigh....
Am I being picky or what:

Just put a different color temp HID bulb in there that matches the color you like more. The "bluer" light looks like about a 6000K bulb. The other looks to be high 4000k - low 5000k in color.

Could you use the bulb and maybe ballast from your cracked assembly in the new one? I thought I've read that HID's slowly change color with use, but maybe I am dreaming.
And curious, does it do the "leveling" thing when you turn it on, where the bulb moves up and down for a second?

Body shop pulled it all apart and are fixing it by using the old bulb. He said my original has a 4 listed on it and the new one had a 1 listed on it. He indicated that those numbers reflect the color of light.
So I guess the export auto-leveling headlight assembly uses a more yellowish light bulb versus the domestic non-auto-leveling version. Weird.

All new OEM bulbs should be yellow'ish. The color temp on stock bulbs should be 4300K, which is yellowish / white until it color shifts over time. Then they'll turn more white and get purple when theyre about to die.
Never heard of a 1 or 4 reflecting a color on a HID bulb. Sounds like maybe theyre using aftermarket bulbs and not OEM bulbs.
