Default Oil filters

Just curious to what everyone uses. I normally use the stock size Mobile 1 with M1 oil but am thinking about going to the K&N HP-2006 truck filter to hold a little more oil. I used to use that on my WS6 & SS but worried about it on the LS6 but the filters use the same top cap. Anyone else using this?

Sorry, I don't know, but FWIW the K&N HP-1007 works fine on my LS2.

Default Oil Filter

I use NAPA Gold 1522 or Wix 51522 on both the V (LS7) and my truck (LS6-spec 6.0L).

The Camaro (LS7) gets a Wix 51794R on a remote mount.

I'm using Mobile 1 M1-206. The filter is longer.

Stock filter on the left and M1-206 filter on the right.

The M1-206 is the same as the K&N HP-2006. They actually are the same filter. Absolute only difference is the nut welded to the bottom of the K&N.

Thanks BTW. I was simply wanting reassurance that others were using the 206/2006 filters on the LS6.

Whats the difference? I had a slight leak with a wix on my 07 at a trackday. I put a fram on it after and it hasnt leaked yet but would like to go back to a better filter.

The element material in a fram filter is very minimal compared to other premium filters. Just today I had a customer who purchased a reconditioned 350 from me a week or so ago call saying the new engine ran good but he had started hearing a slight knocking. I asked what filter he put on to which he replied FRAM. I had him come back & I gave him an AC Delco. Fixed the knock.

the 07 filter has a different thread pattern so you wouldn't have mixed them up and not known

op thanks for the thread, + 1 K&N HP-2006 filter. before i installed it, thought it would extend past the pan but it fits there nicely, i like how it adds alittle oil capacity too

I currently use what I think is the M1-107 Mobil1 filter, although I've heard good things about AMSOIL EAO32.

I use the black K&N's (no nut) in the stock size, they're half the price of the white ones.
