Motor Mounts for V1? (POLL)
#25
I'd love to try a couple of these mounts with and without a harmonic balancer. Budget won't support buying a whole crapload of mounts, though.

Thats why Cadillac went with the OEM mounts they did, to keep the car more "Cadillac".
The simple fact is a Poly mount will fail LONG before a solid mount will. But if you car is tuned properly, even with a massive cam, it will be a whole lot better as far as vibrations goes. There are a lot of guys with LSx cars that go solid mounts, and say the increased vibration is there but not that bad. It will all really come down to the tune of the car and how well things are put together.

Went from broken OEM mounts to the UMI's. Also added long tube headers and LS7 clutch at the same time.
The UMI mounts shake the car pretty good when it dips below 800 RPM, which will happen at idle on occasion, at the light. I like to let out clutch all the way before getting on the throttle, but I can't do that any more because it shakes the car, including the dash and the ceiling panels.
It's definitely not a Caddy any more...

I think my 2nd pair of UUC's (yellow) are toast. I can't freakin believe how shitty they make products!!! Alot of the Bimmer guys go from UUC over to Revshift for that very reason.

I got the blue softer street ones. The red ones are their harder ones for track. I'm going to shoot for install/writeup next weekend.

Is there any benefit to this design compared to the UMI type? I thought I read somewhere the CS mounts which are the same design had some issues. Cant remember what they are though.

I think I remember reading Revshift post something about the quality of poly being significantly superior in their product. The price difference wouldn't necessarily reflect that as they're less expensive than the other options.

Our mount design is completely different than the CS and Rev mounts, ours is similar to the RC51 mount that was available in the past.
We have had many customers report the mount styles like the CS and others tearing over time. This is why we feel ours will hold up much better. And if a bushing would go bad in ours they can be replaced for $2.50 each... so for $10.00 you can rebuild our mounts if needed. On the others once they crack they are no good.
Thanks for the support,
Ryan

Maybe, it doesn't have stock mounts in it now. I don't want to derail the discussion, but I've been fighting the typical 2100-2350rpm vibration and the only thing left to try is to go back to stock motor mounts (which were destroyed when I took them out).

If you have a vibration any of the poly will make it worse. I think mine is my dual mass flywheel now. The vibration was there before my mounts.
Mine is bad 800-900rpms. So I idle just over 900 right now with cam. I have zero issues above that. Mounts don't cause vibrations, they may make them more noticeable. Shutting my car off is embarrassing right now.
I went UMI for all the reasons the sponsor said above. I had a stock one rip on the dyno and I watched the engine try to jump out of the bay. Any of the styles with bolts sticking out of poly can do this.
