My mom's old Olds Aurora did that automatic oil change thing for years from the rear main seal. She'd add about a quart every other week, maybe change the full oil after about 10k... then it jumped a timing tooth. RIP Aurora

i rarely change my oil in my aurora. and are you sure it's the rear main? the oil pan gaskets in the northstar are notorious for breaking, and when that happens, you have to pull the motor to put a new one in.

That sounds about right. Pulling the engine in a car with a resale value of $3k max was not an option. Anyway, she donated it to NPR for a tax write-off after it sat in our carport for a couple years. Woulda been a nice car had it been running.

yeah they're very solid, reliable, and nice cars. i just deal with the oil leak on mine.
