Something I must have missed about the ZL1

The recent Nurburgring runs with factory drivers is a better indicator of overall track prowess: ZR1=7:19.63, Z06=7:22.68, ZL1=7:41.27. The Z06 was only 3 seconds off the ZR1's time on a 12.9 mile course!

Saw my first ZL1 at the track the other night. Teenage girl driving it. She said her daddy bought it for her. Not racing. Must be nice. My dad bought me a Cavalier...

I can't imagine it is down to Goodyear tires, but maybe Goodyear is finally back in the game like they were 10+ years ago when the F1 tires first came out.

You sound even more bitter, comparing this girl to yourself, saying, "My daddy bought me a Cavalier."

Interestingly the CTS-V did a 7:58 with a very similar drivetrain, suspension, and curb weight to the ZL1. So GM did pretty well to find another 17 seconds vs the V.

VIR has a lot of configurations, maybe it's not the same setup, or not run the same way (standing start vs rolling, etc) as Car and Driver does. GM's time around the 'ring with the ZL1 is about 20 seconds behind GM's Z07 time.
Still, it does seem like a cool car. And the marketing/videos suggest you could beat on it all day long and it would just take it. I just wish they didn't have such a cramped interior and poor visibility. I also wish a Camaro never weighed 4,100 lbs, but I could get over that if it were comfortable inside.

if you mean in a straight line, then thats fine.... im sure you can make the 5.0 OWN a ZL1 easily.
but around corners on full tracks i dunno. I would like to see it though, just wonder why Ford hasnt mentioned a ring time since they have been at the ring testing since last June. Just the hp and top speed, while nice that isnt enough to buy a performance/ sports car for.

Will be interesting to see the times the GT500 puts down on a road course. As we all thought, it kills the ZL1 at the drag strip.

I respect this car, but I would take a GT500 over a ZL1 any day of the week. The 5th gen Camaro is fugly & too bulky IMO... No disrespect to anybody that owns one, but they are just not my cup of tea.
