SSRZ28, to put it into perspective, I just bought a 408 stroker, texas giant donkey dick cam, fast 102 intake manifold, and have prt stage 2.5 heads, and i sincerely doubt i'll be breaking 550.

Ok thanks. Well I dyno'd 330rwhp. I think I'll just do the cam, maaggie, and headers. Maybe heads too.

Any recommendation on cam that will sound nice, have good power, and smog.

And a recommendation for which head and cam with Maggie.

Are the stock headers off a sc ctsv good enough?

How much power is the 07 rear capable of handling?

PISNUOFF puts over 500 rwhp through his 07 rear. as long as you don't violently hop, you will likely not break your rear end.

Default My day dream setup

I don't have any experience in all this but.... I was thinking LS3 heads not milled thick head gasket, an e-force and a cam. I have no idea if it would work well but in my pretend world it runs great.

I have done it and its not that easy. The cool thing about the eforce is you can use LS2 heads.

If your going to put LS3 heads on then you can consider a G8 maggie kit as an alternative

If you keep asking what heads/cam etc would be best you are going to get a 100 different answers. You would really be better off working with a vendor directly to help you focus on a direction to go. If you have to stay within smog requirements, you will need to stay at least -7* overlap, which is viable and will work well, but must be properly matched with all other components. This is the difference in a carefully planned "build" and having a bunch of random *** parts thrown together.

I'm a 418 LS3 with a medium cam and GM Performance ported heads with long tubes. I made 510 through a 9" rear end. I assume the 9" eats 10-15 rwhp.

I've decided to just go with exhaust and Maggie. I want to keep it street legal. Are their any legal headers (shorties) that will have a significant gain over the manifolds off a SC CTSV

No. Shorty headers are a waste of money anyhow as LS manifolds flow fairly well (the OE cats are more of the restriction). Get 1 7/8" LT headers from OBX or Kooks and make sure you wrap the primaries when you do. Also, make sure you change the motor mounts when you put the headers in. Depending on the dyno, you should be in the 430 - 480 whp range when completed.

Well then should I just use my factory manifolds or the ones from a SC ctsv? Or are they the same?

Are you talking about V2 manifolds? I don't think you can use them...

Those are meant to fit a different engine bay and exhaust setup. Likely not transferable, and you wouldn't likely see any gains either.

Almost depressing enough to want to sell the V and go back to an fbody.

They are essentially the same part with a few very minor changes. As I said, the OE manifolds are not too terrible..it is the cats that really impede flow. Removing the OE cats usually gain about 15 whp on a N/A setup, so you might see a little bit more on a F/I motor. Headers will get you another 10-25 whp with F/I (again, depending on the dyno) and will help torque everywhere.

Don't want long tubes since they are not smog legal. So I'll just keep the stock manifolds and get high flow cats with a Maggie.

you can run long tubes with highflow cats and itll be smog legal. kooks makes the long tubes with catted connectors.. they prolly have the best cats of all the companys too
