looking for 600+ hp. has to be very reliable on street and smoggable. i was thinking a magnacharger, headers from a SC CTS-V (since they should be in junkyards now), and a cam. still want decent gas mileage. let me know my options, even heads/cam if i dont need supercharger.

A 112 Maggie will barely get you into the 500's, if that. If you want 600 whp from an 07 V you will need a stroker with a Pro-Charger (lots of time and even more $$$), or a **** ton of spray. A modded LS7 would also get you there. Bottom line, you are looking at $10-$20k depending if you know how to do the work yourself with the engine work and REQUIRED SUPPORTING MODS. Honestly, spray would be the cheapest route.
If you cannot do the work yourself, add to that.
If you want 600+ whp...sell the 07 and get a V2, it will probably cost less in the long run.

if the OP is meaning 600hp engine which would be a rough guess of 486rwhp.
Roots type blower is your best bet, or n2o.
if the Op means 600rwhp meaning 740 engine.
lol, basically everything needs to be changed or upgraded. Fuel system, pump(s) wiring, basket, rear end, clutch, engine mounts, headers, heads, cam, blower, block forged, tune, SD capable sensor changes, on and on and on..... we are talking thousands and thousands of dollars. Believe people when they say.. a V2 is a cheaper route in the end.
E85 (big fuel upgrades required) is an option for the stock compression for boost setup, but the stock rod bolts/rods / ring lands will hate you, and tell you very quickly.

The limit on the LS2 setup (using a procharger) is roughly 550rwhp... give or take 10 for reliability. (you better have a good tuner)
600 is possible however, but you are beyond what I call, reliable, as you will need to be around 12 psi of boost, with supporting mods. Running Meth Injection would be mandatory.
Its how long can those stock pistons, rod bolts hold out...

I think the better question should be, why do you want that specific number? It's somewhat of an intangible figure.
Wouldn't you rather your car "do" something for you?
Most mods on these cars have more to do with getting the power to the ground rather than increasing the engine's output. 600 hp would break this stock rear end in half within a day of "playing" around. A solid alternative to our GM given glass differential is going to run you around 4-5g's if you can't fabricate one yourself.
As mentioned before, the cost of the v2 is starting to seem more and more practical for your performance desires.
