One guy reported it, which prompted revshift to make the heat shields.

My CS mounts are scorched too, I have a set of UMI mounts new that I will be installing when I swap in a LQ4 here in the next couple months.

Fuzzy, the UMI mounts use a standard size poly bushing. You might be able to swap it out for a softer duro if you find the original bushing too stiff. Just a thought.

I've been running CS mounts with the heatshields and kooks longtubes and haven't had any melty issues. I just did a 2000mile roadtrip and they are holding up just fine.

No this is not common. I have non wrapped stainless headers and my CS mounts are perfect with a lot of miles on them.
