Default Steering Wheel Buttons Inoperable

Anyone's steering wheel buttons stop working or work intermittently?

I searched on CF (lack of info here) and the consensus is replace the steering wheel because the switches/contacts wear out. My volume and seek buttons are the only ones affected. DIC info buttons on the left of the wheel work fine. I can usually seek down, but lately its been getting worse.

Noticed it was 2007 V, are you still covered under the 5year/60k bumper-to-bumper?

The buttons underneath the plastic are rubber with metal tabs that create a contact when pressed.
You can take them apart and check the contacts as that may be the problem. You'll have to remove the airbag to get at the screws. Once you remove the silver trim there are another set of small screws (2) that are accessable underneath. You can also trace the wires under the airbag to see if they are broken or cut. They then go into the column harness and are color coded. It should be 4 small wires in its own loom until it drops down into the column IIRC.

You could pop the horn button off and make sure the connector is plugged in. You have to release it from the back side.
