GZ Motorsports vacuum pump works awesome. I made a junction block to take air from both valve covers. It also holds the pressure relief valve so I don't have to use the huge ***** oil fill cap. I painted it black and its hidden by the firewall.

This might be a no no in emissions intensive states.

Anybody tried an exhaust evacuated breather setup on the v? Same theory as a vacuum pump but it would need to be behind the o2 sensors....

I, like many people, have a Mike Norris catch can.

It seems like you're using the catch can for the valve cover's fresh air intake? I'm under the impression most people are using it between the valley cover and the intake.

If you're right, I've had it installed incorrectly all this time.

Some of the pictures and instructions are confusing--the plethora of inlet/outlet options don't help things either. To wit:

Some people do choose to buy catch cans like this for both, however I believe most people who buy a single catch can filter the valley cover outlet.

So, if I only have one inlet and one outlet, would you say:

1. Run the valley cover outlet into the inlet of the catch can
2. Run the outlet of the catch can into the valve cover outlet?

Normally, the valley cover outlet was attached to the cold air intake tube.

I would say it's up to you really, what you're doing has value but I'm under the impression that the general consensus is that the majority of the oil in the intake comes from the valley cover. If you wish to use the catch can to catch this oil you will want to run the valley cover into the inlet of the catch can and the outlet of the catch can back to the intake manifold. You will then want to run the valve cover inlet back to the intake tube.

Elite Engineering's directions advise this approach. https://store-581ad.mybigcommerce.co...nstall_LS3.pdf

I appreciate you pointing that out.

I just ran outside to check my setup--when I did the installation three years ago, I hooked it up wrong. At least it explains why there's been zero oil in the catch can all this time. Oh, what a dumbass I am.

whats the difference between venting the crankcase through the valve cover or the valley cover?

the crankcase will be vented the same either way won't it?

The rubber hose is just standard vacuum hose.

I used some silicone hose for the valve cover connections, then to a "T" fitting then to the can (one input).

LS6 - valve cover venting

LS2 - valley cover venting
