Default Catch Can

Long story short, I installed new TB, when I removed old TB there was more oil residue than I would like in the rear of the old TB and some at the supercharger opening. I was wondering if this could have caused the old TB to go bad and what are the feelings on using a catch-can esp since I have the supercharger. Thanks

Which is a bad idea, because with a PCV delete, you're not going to be able to remove contamination caused by combustion blow-by.

Catch can it, and don't route it back to the intake. Just put a breather on the out line of the catch can.

That's the worst of both solutions, imho. Either route a catch can along the existing PCV route, or delete PCV system and add a breather, but not both.

My method maintain's emissions compliance, and keeps you from recirculating oil and gases through the intake, not sure how thats bad..... PCV delete's or reroutes where you just dump the line certainly arent great, I've done this on my truck because those turbo's will drag oil out of the motor and coat the CAC in oil. If you run the vent lines on the v to a catch can, and put a little filter breather on the exit so you don't spill and you dont get **** in the intake manifold or tb.

First of all, the PCV system allows combustion byproducts, caused by piston ring blow-by, to escape the crankcase and not be deposited in the oil. If you don't route the line back into the intake, you have a vacuum leak--a difference between the volume of air metered by the MAF and what actually goes through the engine. A catch can filters out any molecularized oil from being reintroduced into the intake. The optimal solution is PCV-->catch can-->intake.

OP the catch can is a good idea any time you get into high hp applications, as fuzzy stated the standard method is pcv->catch can-> intake for these cars. The rest of this thread turned into more of an arguement. A catch can would be a good investment, and will keep you from getting oil in the induction system. If you have oil in your induction system not only will it gum things up, but it reduces your overall thermal efficiency as it will hold heat. Bottom line a catch can is a good idea in your position.

Definitely go with a catch can.

Here's a pic of my stock intake without one. Shiny from the oil that gets in there.....boooo.

That looks like an almost perfect duplicate of the original Mike Norris catch can. Can't believe they ripped him off. The gen 2 is better, and it's almost the same price.

Here's a picture of mine installed.

Blargh! What is that?! Coffee?

I think you might need new piston rings.
