Could I run an active VGA+ audio to hdmi converter with this?

My end goal would be to use my smartphone as the carputer for the screen display, apps, Pandora, etc.

I am gonna qualify this with a PROBABLY, but obviously you wouldn't get sound.

Reed was gonna hook up his tablet to test it, but he forgot it.

Here are pics of the harness for the Mini Mac and the power supply.

A "smart" power supply, it keeps the Mini in standby for three days and then shuts off if not used.

I ended up putting it in the center console.

There is a mini USB plug for the volume control (mp3car.com).

What is the cost for just the electronic portion? Basically, if someone didn't have the ability to do the soldering that you are doing but, could mount there own lcd and such. A bare minimum so to speak.

If I got this right, you tap into the video output of the unit now, and install another board that can translate the video on to the new screen?

The electronics are about $400+ in parts.

The conversion is $800.00, 50% deposit.

After the summer, the price will increase.

There are Bluetooth devices for pressure and temp monitoring.

You can look at wireless DAQ from OMEGA, just depends on how simple or exotic you want to get.

Will make and post one when I have everything done on the installation.

Still need to do the front camera.

Will probably put a video together by the end of the month.

The one that is posted now is old, but it gets the idea across.

Here is a picture of the modified radio front panel.

The three position switch selects OEM data, ext VGA, force rear camera.

The pushbutton switch selects VGA, AV1 (front camera), AV2 (rear camera).

The LED shows power on for the display (red) and valid signal input
(green).

You know what would be funny? Throw on a small vinyl sticker that says "START" on it.

HAHAHA...

I made a mistake, here are updated pics of the radio front.

Included is the "bellybutton" hole for the IR remote.

The rear view shows the switch panel strip mounting.

The IR remote duplicates what all the hidden switches do , which are mainly display functions that one doesn't need ready access to.

I didn't want to clutter up the front with a bunch of switches either.

IT IS DONE!

I changed the radio ****

A picture of the front camera install.

EVERYTHING WORKS

So now I get:

OEM data, front camera, rear camera, Mac Mini (ext VGA input) and 5.1 decoder for surround sound (driven by the Mac Mini).
