First in line after me.

This is gonna be good.

An obsolete car, an obsolete radio and a state of the art system even the Vette guys and newer V's don't have.

This is my revenge on GM.

I would like to have the vga input and touch screen overlay along with the option to switch the screen back to stock. Would that be an option?

That is pretty much the way it will be, except a backup camera interface is also going to be included.

Back up camera will have a "precedence" option to automatically be on screen when car is put in reverse.

The touch screen is an Ebay item like this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/7inch-4-wire...item2a1a85316c

I need a name for this mod.

How about "Frankenradio"?

Thanks!

If I wasn't doing stuff like this I would be spending all my time making stupid videos of me and my parrot (Beaker).

Here is another teaser to show I ain't full of BS.

This is a "proof of concept" and my development system.

The display is a 7" tft (VGA) with a touch screen.

The Mini Mac is below.

I would have to swallow my pride on this apple device but anything is better than the existing Atari 2600 in these cars!!! Looks like an awesome project for sure. Looking forward to the outcome. Good luck!

You could always substitute a laptop PC.

Just don't ask me for help on where to mount it.

this was actually my original idea. I planned on going with the stock look by plasti dipping an early 80's mac and cramming it in there...

Very interested in this heavy, If I can find a way to run a trunk located pc with this I would be in. Any ideas on what you would charge for this yet or is it still too early?

The one company I know of that supplies an aux vga input and a camera input charges $450.

They do not add a touch screen but it ain't that hard or expensive.

From what I can get it down to is two ways:

1. I send you a modified display and you install it or you have someone competent do it.

2. You send me the radio and I take care of it, that is I supply a vga plug and a USB plug and some switches (mounted).

Anything more then that and I get real expensive.

The Mac has to be "personalized" for one thing.

Then there is the problem with testing the whole thing because I don't have a way of generating CANBUS (as of yet!) and spoofing a vin to turn the doggone thing on!

I am trying to get some more display info so I can make a jig to test them other then using my own radio as the holy grail of test beds.

Simply phenomenal work, Heavy! Once this gets finalized, it will likely be the best selling mod for the V1. Kudos!
