^^ What thetruth said above. It's not the actual welded piece on the bottom of the modded shifter that hits, it's the actual linkage hitting the driveshaft propeller.

Yeah, I was confused by the sound because at first it sounded like grinding a gear but the bangs didn't feel the same. I ended up putting it all back in the air, rear wheels up with TC/SC completely off... and noticed the bolts that go into the driveshaft propeller were banging into the shifter linkage. No clearance on the lower gears like 2, 4, etc. Upper gears seemed fine.

Interesting. So this only happens with azn2dmax's shifter?

I can't speak on anyone else's shifter, since I don't have anyone elses. LOL
But this does happen with azn's.

Only the bottom gears (2, 4, 6) and its at the linkage, maybe about 1-2 inches out from the shifter itself. It bangs into I believe 3 of the bolts that go into the driveshaft propeller there. (3 kind of stick out further, and 3 don't, its the design on it) It is for a fact banging into the bolt heads though.

I installed the revshift trans block last week and have azn2dmax's shifter and had the same problem with the linkage hitting the driveshaft. There is a very easy fix for it. Take the shifter back out and take the white 2 piece coupler that goes around the ball of the shifter and flip it the other way. Reinstall and you will have no problems. By flipping the coupler it raises the shifter slightly and there is no problems.

I never realized the thing was non-symmetric. Wonder if its in upside-down already. Maybe I will keep the block and use it. I was going to send it back as a $100 shifter rather than a $400 one is way more important to me than a harder trans mount.

I'm going to have to try what you are saying here... but I'd prefer some pics. Every time I've seen that 2 piece coupler, it looks perfectly symmetrical.

Supposed to look like this. To gain more space just flip it.

^^^^ that is how it is stock but as said earlier you can flip the "ball holder" and it will bring it up at least 1/4" and by the side by side pic of that other shifter and mine it will work.

This pic shows stock holder on the right is upsidedown/flipped over. the bottom is flat and not beveled.

Hmm... Wish I would of known that prior to buying the UUC and swapping it out for the AZN. Not that I regret it, and I got an awesome deal at $140 shipped for the UUC. But would of saved me some time and hassle.

Got it. I may have put it in upside-down already. 07CTS-V or whatever also mentioned notching something out if you raise the pivot. Any idea what that's about?

Cup with "Notch" facing down will raise it up.

I know. Precisely why I'd like clarification on what he meant.

Right. I understand this thread. Just trying to link his explanation to this discussion.

He mentioned using a spacer to the same end. But in at least 2 other threads-I thought he said you had to notch something if you raise the pivot.

Here it is. Spacer and modify, OR flip the white thingy.

Bringing up an old thread but I wanted to say that with a combination of a cs8.8 with the DSS drive shaft a uuc shifter and a revshift trans insert does not work!!! I had a little clank at initial acceleration in each gear that I couldn't figure out. Well I figured it out because it was magnified with the revshift insert. Which led me to this thread lol. The shifter would tap the driveshaft but with the insert it indeed rides on the drive shaft now. So I either need to remove the insert or ???? Lol

I may be able to try and flip the cup. I shimmed the x member down so I could go to the store lol I needed cigs after a stressful bushing install.
