Default FAST 102 & MAF Question

Tax return is coming and I'm considering using it to swap in a FAST 102 (or 92 undecided for sure at the moment) and sell my ls6. I already have an LS2 ported throttle body.

Been reading a grip of threads on the Gen III internal engine section but wanted to get some feedback from the V guys before I busted out the credit card.

First question, any opinions on the new FAST 92 vs the 102?

My initial thoughts were 102 was overkill and seeing as I can reuse my LS6 fuel rails with the FAST 92 I should just go 92. However all the threads I've read guys are recommending 102 (which is actually cheaper on e-bay by $60), even Momo said 102 but the thread I read of his was about a year old before the re-release of the 92.

Second Question, should I also be upgrading my MAF to an LS3 blade style with this new setup? Read a few threads from last month on here but I'm still a little foggy on the benefits of spending the cash other than I can go to 100mm vs 78mm on the pipe?

Any tips, feedback, thoughts opinions are much appreciated! Hopping some of you tuning masters like vmapper weigh in as well.

If I go to LS3 MAF (I know tuning is required), I'm thinking these:

I would do the 92 personally and upgrade the maf. Only time id consider a 102 is if you plan to go to a bigger cubic inch motor down the road but at that point you can sell the 92 anyways and buy a 102.

Id imagine you already have bigger injectors but if not they definetly need to be on your list...36lbers will be fine.

And if your wondering Id put you around 440-445rwhp/390-395 tq.

Great feedback, exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

I do have 36 pound FAST injectors, put them in when I did my cam/head swap. Need a new tune bad and this will be a good excuse to haul her back to the Dyno.

The guy that did the first tune came highly recommended by the Northwest guys here on the forum but once I bought HP tuners and pulled the tune, it was riddled with errors (including turning one of my fans on at 205 degrees and off at 215, WTF??) Plus the car won't idle, dies immediately until it gets into closed loop...

Would it be better to use this connector so you can have IAT's?

Or Is the IAT In the Maf?

Gen I - stock are a 5 wire MAF, which includes the IAT sensor.
that ebay item would be used for someone running an LS1, lets say a WS6 (1999) and wants to run a 5 wire maf (given to LS6 platforms - which these Gen I have)

For the OP - I agree, 92mm FAST intake over the 102.

^^ What he said, this is actually the item I meant to link to which I'm assuming should work:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS7-LS3-5-WI...955f9c&vxp=mtr

Is the ls3 an better sensor (aka am I maxing out the current sensor with the bigger intake) or am I just trying to increase intake pipe size?

vmapper I saw another thread where you recommended the cone to straighten airflow before the sensor so I was planning on adding that as well.

I dont think any harness is needed, being the ls6 harness is a 5 pin and so is the ls3.

That harness seems to be for an LS1 style where the IAT isnt built into the maf like the LS3 and LS6
Unless the pinning is different between the two?

Gotcha, I imagine the pinning must be the same.

Here is the e-mail I got from Mamo asking him about the FAST 92 vs FAST 102, I asked him if the 102 would hurt lower end torque (seeing as the 102 is cheaper than the 92, I couldn't figure out why anyone would go with the 92 other than the hassle of changing out fuel rails).

"Internet wives tale....the FAST 102 is superior in design and construction to the older 90/92 Gen intakes.

I make the same to port both....actually a few bucks more to port the older style, but if it were my car the 102 is the only intake I would run.

The size of the TB has nothing to do with low end torque..,..we aren't atomizing fuel like a situation where you can have too large a carb..,..its simply an air blade. The 102 has a better runner/plenum design and those are items that do make a difference."
