You can, my 04 doesn't have swc's so i didn't. Did this on my truck though. Pic a module, I used the axxess on my truck.

cool Dmax, and you were able to splice everything in and had no issues with your controls on the truck? One thing that really bothers me is having buttons that no longer work, so that would solve that, plus wouldn't have to dirty up the screen to turn up the volume.

Stone, get that thing and report back! looks sweet

Wiring the swc is really simple, atleast it was on my truck. The harnesses that come with the modules are essentially universal so most of the wires will be superfluous to you. The truck required one wire splice + power/gnd and a headphone jack like plug to the back of the alpine deck. All functions are still good on my steering wheel.

Edit: 600 posts shcweet

This company does good navigation units too. We have installed hundreds into our vehicles at the dealership. And they know the difference between Bose and non Bose factory set ups.
It would be interesting if someone tried on of these. Usually they are designed specifically for that particular vehicle that why installation is seamless but they have a universal one to.

I got some info from a friend who just got done with a conference (software).

Evidently there is a group of LINUX nerds working on radio hacks, specifically CANBUS.

I am gonna see what I can find out, maybe they have a user group.

My goal is to develop a "plug&play" that will spoof the OEM radio and allow replacement of the OEM "entertainment center" and not just GM cars.

By getting rid of the factory radio what all do you lose since you use it for setting up anything personalized? I'm getting ready to get a system put in and would love to get rid of the factory head unit.

You just can't chnges the setting anymore but I have not changed anything since I got the car (2 years ago).

I pick up this Ultra Gauge for about $70.
The ultra gauge will show MPG, trip A and B, intake temp, volts, engine temp, trouble codes and alot more.

Does your seat settings still work? I actually have a brand new one of those gauges. I plugged it in once and it wouldn't cut back on after the car was off over night.
