Questions after LS7 clutch install
I installed an ls7 clutch and flywheel, new bolts and pilot bearing and Oriley slave the other day on my 05. Flywheel torqued to 74 foot pounds and pressure plate at 52. Just a few questions now that I have it all together and am driving it. I feel a lot more drivetrain vibration through the car now while accelerating. A few months ago I installed revshift blue motor mounts and trans insert and felt no difference in vibration until the clutch install. Is this a normal characteristic of the new setup? Was the old flywheel absorbing that much vibration? Next I feel something in the clutch pedal almost like I can feel the throwout bearing or pilot bearing spinning when I press the clutch down. If I hold the pedal down for a few seconds after shifting the feeling goes away. Could this be a bearing or again is this normal?

Is your driveshaft clocked properly? Moving out out of factory alignment can cause balance issues.
Might also be worth checking to see if your harmonic dampener is in good shape. The weight of the original flywheel will absorb a lot of that.
Lastly, yes, mine does have a bit of a funny "feel" in the pedal if I shift during hard accel. Haven't tracked it down yet.

from what I have read, more drivetrain noise is a result of getting rid of the dual mass fly wheel. You are shifting fine clutch feels good (prolly lower) but everything is running okay? That is the reason for dual mass I believe, to cut down on noise.
My friend took out his dual mass in his g35 and the noise is ridiculous, but drives fine. His is really noticeable in the lower rpms and the engine has a load.
I should have my ls7 clutch going here in a couple of days and I will see what it sounds like

Yeah everything else seems fine. No problems driving of shifting, just want to make sure this is normal. Wish there was another v around here that has a ls7 clutch in it I could compare it to.

All you guys with vibrations. If you rev the engine while stopped and it vibrates, your flywheel and pressure plate are not balanced. Balancing them will take care of the vibes. It is not normal and over time will slowly degrade your engine.
I don't buy that it vibes because it is not a dual mass flywheel.
It vibes because it is not balanced.

There is something you can do though. You can remove your transmission and take your clutch to get balanced and reinstall.

where is the source info that the ls7 clutch isn't balanced? I have no info but I seriously doubt that it isn't balanced. You can even see what appears to be weights on the pressure plate.
Not doubting but just seems crazy that it wouldn't be balanced

I didn't word my last post correctly, sorry for the confusion.
I meant to say that the ls7 clutch kit does not come balanced as an assembly, flywheel and pressure plate are balanced individually.
Balancing as an assembly eliminates vibrations associated with the clutch.
Vibrations with the LS7 clutch is a very common problem. A simple search will show that.

Btw, I didn't go with the LS7 clutch, I went with the Mantic single, and I balanced it.

When I first installed my ls7 clutch, I felt a vibration when I pressed in the clutch also. It was alot worse at higher rpm. I have about 1500 miles on the clutch now, and its no longer there. Its as smooth as stock
