Default Cam thread!

Ok, getting ready to order some goodies for the caddy. Will be doing long tube install, cai, and shifter. Also looking at cams... What cam are you running and what do you like about it? Looking to keep the lsa around 114/116 so she can/will still like to drive the car. I don't think she's going to like a big hard hitting cam(says she will, but I know how that goes haha)...

I am searching and doing a little reading also. I've drove and installed many and many of cams in Ls trucks and cars. I'm just needing a little help choosing the right cam for her, since she will be the one driving it for the most part.

I went with a Pat G spec'd 226/230 with a 113+2. And I love it but sometimes wish I went bigger.

The type of cam you get will really depend on what you want to accomplish with the car. In the end, the driveability of any cam is going to come from the tune you get after the install is done. I have seen very mild cams drive like crap after they were installed because the tune was ****. Best bet is to call a reputable vendor (my vote is for either Martin @ Tick or Alvin @ PCM of NC) and tell them your goals for the car and they can spec one out for you whether it ends up being a custom grind or one of their own house grinds.

I'm new to the LSX scene all together. Still trying to learn all of this LSX stuff. I'm also looking for a streetable cam, but still want low end, and lope.

I'm running a Tick Performance cam. Mine is the SNS Torque Max Stage 3 235/239 .620/.623 112 + 2. Love it. Tick has a lot of great cams, their street heat series would also be a good choice. Give Martin at Tick a call and tell him your intentions for the car, he'll help you choose.

Unrelated -- Biggie are those the Rota's?

Sounds great by the way. I'm hoping for a little more lope than that though.

Id go with a 230ish duration cam on a 114 and have a good tuner dial it in. My cam drove like a stock car. Too much work to go too small and wish you had gone bigger.

Exactly lol, I only want to do this once. Put 3 different cams in my old boss's corvette lol.

I am pretty set on a 230ish cam and 600 lift.. On 113. Going to give a couple places a call tomorrow and see what I can come up with

I grabbed one of these off eBay from a guy that took it out of his CTS-V for literally, a steal.

I haven't bothered to install it yet, because I still need to get springs, etc etc etc.

I have a fast setup and 220 as casts on it so the bigger cam works good.
Id recommend something a little smaller than mine, like Itsslow98 said.
It drives good, I've only had one problem with it hunting for idle when the ac was on and I was coming to a dead stop from high rpms, it happens 1 out of 10 times tho, but I think its from the TB and Intake.
