Same is true for ultrasuede.

Invented in the 70s by some Japanese dude.

I think Alcantra is a marketing gimmick; lol.

Any fake suede needs to be UV resistant though.....

The faux alcantara might... I've never used it myself. My buddy did in a shift boot for his cobalt but it fell apart in like a year. I have had regular alcantara and it seems to hold up rather well.

You say that until you actually hold the stuff in your hands side by side. There's a reason why it costs $104 per yard.

No I think 54 is right... Marketing. But it does hold up rather well and is softer than pretty much anything else I have used

I'm in for one. Either is fine. I'd prefer real if you're taking votes from the 'either' crowd.

If I would have bought the Suede V2 **** I'd be in...but, like a dumbass, I bought the leather one. You can call Luke at Lindsay Cadillac for one Biggie. $105 for the leather, and $115 for suede if I remember right.

Philistine, is that silver or charcoal thread?

Personally, I think that there are few, key places where suede works, and the shift ****/boot is not one of them. If you can get me in with a black Nappa leather boot, charcoal thread, with four panel stitching, let me know. If not, no big deal--I'll eventually buy one on my own.

FYI, the company that created ultrasuede owns alcantra and the link you posted is for someone that is selling a product, so they have a reason to push Alcantra.

Believe what you want.

And I quote, "The two materials, Alcantara® and Ultrasuede®, share the same technology, developed by Toray scientist, the late Miyoshi Okamoto, in 1970, that remains unrivalled even today. Through the years, the brands built their respective identities."

Ok. I will be ordering the real alcantara ones. Since there will more than likely be more than 10 people the cost will be a little lower than the $63 stated earlier.

I believe what I see and feel with my own eyes and experience. Because as I stated earlier, I've seen and used both personally.

Here's your problem. You're assuming the "faux alcantara" they're using is ultrasuede. It's not. Ultrasuede is a brand just like Alcantara and carries a premium for the legit product.

But feel free to get the fake version. I've witnessed it fading to purple in less than a year first hand.

Glad to see this has gotten some good interest!

That would be awesome. Or you can send it out and have it recovered if we can't do it in this group buy
