Options to turn off rear o2's for CEL
Hey Guys,
I put LT's on the car a few months ago and it instantly put the CEL on for the rear o2's. I have to get the car smogged soon and but I want to put a cam in this summer so not ready for a full tune. What is the cheapest way to turn off the rear o2's so I can delay getting a tune. Yes this is me being cheap but i really don't want to pay for 2 tunes.
Thanks, David

I think what you mean is that it didn't work for you with no cats at all. I didn't see if the OP has cats or not.
That g8 thread with the filter is interesting. I bet that would work.

I have Kooks LT's with High flow cats B&B with the resonator so similar to yours.

It would be worth a try. I'd start with the non-foulers and add the filter material if you find that doesn't work. I think the Lt's move them further from the engine so there may be an issue with them not getting up to temperature or something but it's a pretty cheap experiment. Definitely use a step bit and a vise to hold the part you are drilling.

Cool. That's who I go to as well. I think Owen does a pretty good job and I like the fact that he will tune it again for free when needed (already done it a second time for me).

Before you do anything you need to see what is the requirement for passing.
If you shut off the rear O2's the drive cycle will never initiate and those tests will flag as "not ready" which is different then a fail.
Those tests are cat eff and vent purge.
This can be addressed in tuning, but there is no way to beat stink test.
Some states (not Calif) will pass you with a not ready indication.

But yeah the specifics vary.
