04 Gen lll ls1+t56 into 05 cts. need wiring help!
Determined to figure it out just need guidance to integrate the engine into the car. I realize it's not practical but neither is buying a v when you don't have the $$$$$. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Didn't someone tty to accomplish this a while back? The dash and traction control stuff didn't work properly or something. I can't remember what forum it was on, here or one of the other ones.

Your best and most likely bet would be to source a 04-05 cts v ecu and engine harness. Buy a tuning software and put the all the tuning info in to match the ls1 - VE tables, MAF tables, etc... And hope for the best. At least that would give you a better head start. You may also have to have other computers in the car programmed to match the ecu.
The headache involved in doing this and making it function with the car as if it was stock, is probably not worth the time and trouble. Making it work in a standalone sense, with aftermarket gauges and just driveable, probably wouldn't be to bad, with the right knowledge of all the electrical systems in the car.

get a stand alone harness from a supplier for LS harnesses... none of your dash or gauges are gonna work from the stock setup.
you could get the complete engine harness, interior harness, dash, gauges, stereo, and clutch setup from a salvaged V... and end up blowing your brains out trying to get the harnesses installed... idk man, its sooooo much more trouble than its worth. just sell everything youve accquired and look for a wrecked V that need body work... ive seen them selling under $8,000. Youd be so much further ahead. This has been tried and it never seems to work out right. good luck

There are companies out there, that will take your ecu and harness and make it a standalone system, label everything and make it plug and play. This will merely get you running with basic inputs, such as battery and ignition.

I don't understand why this would be so difficult. Look what this guy did. I saw this car 10 years ago on the dragstrip.

I would think if he used a cts-v harness and ecu, this would be no different than swapping a different engine into a V.
Is y our cts already manual? if so that would make this job easier. I would think the data would be read from the harness in a similar fashion.

And this car is faster than 99.9999% of all v1's so this is all good by me.
